Lift Up Your Heads

7 Lift up your heads, O you gates;
be lifted up, you ancient doors,
that the King of glory may come in.

8 Who is this King of glory?
The LORD strong and mighty,
the LORD mighty in battle.

9 Lift up your heads, O you gates;
lift them up, you ancient doors,
that the King of glory may come in.

10 Who is he, this King of glory?
The LORD Almighty—
he is the King of glory.

Flashlight and Fire at 3:00 AM

Don't  panic at the title, NO we did not have a fire in our house.
Thursday AM the dogs stood up and flapped their ears at 3:30 AM (that is the usual way they wake us up at 4 AM, normal time for us). Since one of them was making that strange gagging noise (only dog owners understand this), I leaped (well maybe not LEAPED) out of bed and rushed them outside

when we came back in, I  shut the bedroom door allowing Bob a half hour of  sleep.

OH NO! my glasses are on the bedside table. the door is closed, if I open it, dogs will POUNCE on sleeping husband.

How can  I entertain myself, I think. If I can't see the TV or read my Bible reading? (blind as a bat without glasses)

You guessed it. I decided to try holding a flame thrower (propane match) out in front of my Coolpix to see what happened. what happened is this post.... also the hand that held the flame thrower was shaky.
What? did I hear these photos are  totally useless.

These were taken by sitting the camera on kitchen counter and standing in front of the camera with Bob's little maglight flashlight. Blame this on Dave at The Hidden Realm  (dave and his light show is WHY of doing this, so its all his fault) don't miss HIS, his is professional, mine is PHUN Oops! its not even Phriday

Isn't it weird you can't see me or my arm twirling they flash light round and round? I am taking bets on how many of you might just try this now that you KNOW

this last photo in this show was taken  using my big flashlight and the only reason it is here is.......
to prove I can and did entertain myself in the dark and without my glasses.
PS, can anyone guess how I made my pumpkin on the sidebar?

Phun Phriday DOTB

It's Phun Phriday, so here we go.....
our electric went down for half an hour.
all clocks in every room went down also. But the Biggest Draggg of all is the automated coffee pot. Pot goes down drag out the book (hereafter known as DOTB )
All presets NADA. soooo  DOTB to set the clock, to set the auto timer, to turn off the self cleaning mode which came on by itself.

Fast forward 24 hours.........and next morning it's time for my 2nd cup of coffee, Screams of "Coffee is COLD" and I whine "why did the pot turn off, its not been 2 hours"  DOTB

Can you guess what TSB means, see that little button? Is that what sets the time auto time at 2 hours?  NO, maybe its the button with the egg timer on it so DOTB and YES, that's the button.

couldn't THEY make all of them the same? no book needed!

How about Clocks in Vehicles?
My Saturn Vue has no button marked with hours/minutes, battery dies or  time changes? DOTB if I want to know which buttons are  masquerading as what.

GMC Pickup truck, has min and hrs imprinted on thebuttons. SHOULD be easy! Not! there is a button that has to be pushed at at the same time, so which one is it? DOTB

ALL clocks should be exactly the same. so I don't have to DOTB

All telephones should be the same and all DebitCredit Card Machines should be the same. DOTB

Are you picking up what I'm putting down? got it now?

PS: what about gas pumps that are all different and the ones that want my zipcode? DOTB OOPS no book for that

 that's another story.

Search & Rescue

Yesterday's post on the Toad I rescued from our pool inspired me to share Our Search and Rescue Team and a few of the critters we have rescued.

Meet the Search & Rescue team that monitors our pool. Above is the Search/Photographer cum Net scooper (dog in photo above is NOT part of the search team since that requries movement)

below, if you can find him, is Jake, the Search part of the team. Jake hangs upside down over the water nosing up the critters for me to save. (note: Jake will devour if I am not quick on the net scooping)

Without any further ado, I give you photos of The Rescued. (there are many more, but I will spare you the rest of them)

Yes, we saved this snake and hubby saved a much bigger one. note I said HUBBY on the big one
Are you asking WHY  I would save the bugs?
because I have to
Tree frogs love what they think is a pond, but do not know chlorine water is not conductive to breathing.

My Favorite is the itty bitty teen weeny frogs the size of a dime or smaller.

The end and sorry for so many pictures at one time, I HAD TO DO IT

Froggy Went A Courtin....

This precious little toad froggy (I say toad and frog because I say its a frog, hubby says toad) guy, was sinking for the 3rd time when I rescued him from death by drowning in our pool yesterday.

Froggy went a courtin and he did ride.....umm huummm

Froggy went a courtin and he did ride.....umm huummm

Froggy went a courtin he did ride,
sword and pistol by his side..umm humm ummhumm umhuumm
are you singing with me now?

I deposited him safely in the bushes and OF COURSE almost scared him to death flashing the camera at him. Flash was required due to shade he was in.

For those of you who don't know the song (hubby never heard it before) I Found this on YouTube, not my photos in the video

First Impressions (think twice)

"It is only with the heart that one can see rightly, what is essential is invisible to the eye." quote from Antoine de Saint-Exupery's The Little Prince

Compare these two photos, both are exactly the same photo, but changed to be more pleasing to my eye. It might not be more pleasing to YOUR eyes.

View others with love and not with what we THINK they should be or look like or act like. Use the talents and gifts we have and know inside ourselves that the only person we can change is ourselves. that what we see is not always what we think we see.

On the outside/inside a person might have scars, but those scars have formed that person and should be seen with eyes of love and understanding. Our local library at times has 8 to 10 homeless persons sitting quietly and reading magazines, getting out of the heat. I have heard many complaints, but we need to think about these words I found

Rough diamonds may sometimes be mistaken for worthless pebbles.  Sir Thomas Browne

A hurting person needs a helping hand, not an accusing finger. unknown author

This post is a reminder to myself, to see with the heart and not the mind and to see with they eyes of Jesus, as he did, the inner parts of a person, not the outer.

John 8:3-12, "And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst, They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act. Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou? This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not. So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her. And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground. And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst. When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee? She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more."

Hidden Potential (look again)

Words are seeds! Fruit grows from those words, good or bad, sometimes life or death can grow from our spoken words.

ABOVE PHOTO OUT OF CAMERA, BELOW, HIDDEN POTENTIAL, developed by ME with my trust PhotoShop 7 The rest of the photos below, are 1 out of camera, 2nd photoshop

Last week, while in Wal-Mart, I noticed the above display and boxes of pumpkins of all sizes and colors. (yes, I did have my slimline Coolpix in my pants pocket, doesn't everyone?) Yes, I did take it out and Madly Snap a few shots. (you say, do they let you do that? I did it, but later heard from a blogger I could have been in trouble, so do not do this, or IF you do, don't tell them where you got the idea)

Are you wondering where I am going with this? I almost deleted all the photos because taken under flourscent lights, they did not come out very well and also did not Speak to me. they were just ugly pumpkins all jumbled together. I needed a fall header and decided to see if I could find any hidden potential and then found i could not stop transforming what at first seemed so blah into something I loved.

the idea for this post came while watching the local news last night, Talking Head was inteviewing the principal of a local school, and Hubby says
"She's a PRINCIPAL?"
I said "why do you say it that way?" Hubby said "well LOOK at her!"
Are you picking up what I am putting down???

Just as I had judged these photos as not good enough because of the way they LOOKED, Hubby did the same thing in thinking the woman on the TV did not have potential for a principal because of how she LOOKED.

As for me, what was the first thing I thought? these are not pretty enough to post or use, just get rid of them. My second thought was Make Them Better, Make them Prettier, Change them so they are more pleasing to ME. OUCH.... what if these were PEOPLE? would I think the same thing? I did the same thing hubby did, judged the book by its cover without thinking about how good these pumpkins were inside.   (to be continued tomorrow)

"Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven."

Sunrise Sonday

"Plaid Plant"

Actually, it's NOT a "plaid plant". But it does looks like plaid ribbon to me.
It is a type of Bromeliad. .

Phun Phriday Plane

My day was made, coming straight at my camera was a  prop plane, only 30 plus photos of it as it came towards me...... go to the end to see why it was PHUN for me...... look closely at the photos

You guessed why I had Phun. The pilot gave me a wave as they passed me by. (do any of you wonder what he was thinking about the nut job with the camera on the runway)
