No Name Storm & Tomato Plants

All day Thursday, we huddled and watched and waited. Tornado warnings, sky as dark as the night, high winds to 70 mph, at least 4 tornados sighted, about 60 miles from us. This line of storms to 24 hours to go through our bay area that consists of 5 counties. below is what we watched on TV while the storm raged (yes i was SCARED)

we watched the tomato plants, bob went out twice and tied more strings to hold them up. We went to bed that night wonderfing how many we would lose.

this is what we found Friday morning, the plant with 25 on it, broken at the bottom. the half that is the worst has 16 smaller tomatoes. the other half has almost full size. the one with the most on it, was broken off, he stuck it in the dirt and we will await whatever happens

Bobby Tomatoseed, as Lola and Judy called him, tied it up. We shall see what we shall see

no damage, just lots of debri, so we were blessed.
this is a little debri from the  pool, and what covered the deck. This is an air plant that grows in the trees.

Tourist actually BUY them to take home, we laugh.....

The best news,is that you are safe.I know how those plants were nurtured, but they are still only plants,.Storms like this do so much damage and all too often take lives as well.Who know those plants may just take root and continue to grow. With your Hubbys' green thumb anything is possible.

Sorry to hear about the tomato plants but I am glad to hear that you guys are ok.
It's amazing and terrifying what those storms can do

Glad you had no 'real' damage... Sorry about the tomatoes. You could use the green tomatoes to make tomato marmalade or something - I have done that with mine that have grown on the balcony which seldom get to ripen before frost.

Looks like some serious damage. You were truly blessed that you only received damage to your maters. Sad, but you can get more maters pretty easily. Not as goods as the home-grown ones....

Sandra that is to close for comfort. Hope bobs planes are ok LOL. Storms like that are scarey.

Ohhhh...so sorry about the tomatos. But like everybody is saying, so glad to know that you got through it safely! I just love thunderstorms but when they get that severe......maybe not.

As bad as it was, I'm glad there was no damage to you or your home.
Hopefully, the "maters" will survive.

I've never experienced a tornado....we just have earthquakes here in CA. Tornadoes look brutal and very scary! So glad you're safe.

I read about the torando's before I went to sleep last night (quite a bit) ten? and that there were dozens of homes destroyed!! Not to mention- and what your photos clearly illustrate..it's like when this sort of thing happens, you just have to strap yourself in an ride it out!! I'm sure there were a lot of folks who have to get up and pick up the pieces! Glad your ok..your tomatos should be alright..main thing is you were all safe (whew)!! Have a peaceful weekend~

You told me there was a tornado watch, but I had no idea it was this bad!! And I'm glad I didn't, I wouldn't have slept!! The WORST is those watches at night when you are asleep, because you don't know what is happening. Do you have sirens? Those are GOOD T.V. pictures, look like you snapped them live. I am so glad it was ONLY the tomato plants that were damaged!! Did Jake and Baby get scared?

Glad to hear you came through the storm with only debris and no serious damage. Tornadoes are very rare here but I remember them well from GA. Scary stuff.

With Bobby Tomatoseed's magic touch the broken tomato vine might just bounce back and continue to produce those lovely fruits.

I just saw your entry for Joan's contest, that is a gorgeous flower!

We just got the rain. Glad you are safe! I have lived through several tornadoes... eight the night of my baby shower in Oklahoma when Nyssa was just a few days old.

Yesterday, the wind kicked up here and was really blustery so I took the bird feeders down. One storm actually bent the main 1 inch metal pole so I didn't want that scenario. Of course, less than 30 minutes after I got everything down, the wind quit. Now the squirrels are having a feeding frenzy with the one feeder that was still with feed.

How awful! Glad you are okay...my daughter lives in Madeira Beach and I was worried about her. I am one of those tourists that love those air plants.LOL We are flying down there Thursday to Florida for my daughter's beach wedding...we are excited. It is snowing here today!
