But the flowers are the "plain Jane" of our yard.
Below is a Bird of Paradise from Selby Gardens, you can compare and see why I call ours a Plain Jane
Just like us humans, the two flowers here are just alike on the inside and from the same family, the outside is different indeed... But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.” —1 Samuel 16:7
Susan asked how much land we own. all this is on a 100x100 foot lot, we just don't like grass, and have bushes and trees everywhere.

Wow 20 feet tall. That is a huge plant. I don't think I've seen a white one before.
What a wonderful comment on life using plants as the inspiration. You have great insight.... good quote. Great pictures.
This is really a great analogy with the flowers and the scriptures. Happy Sunday.
I came over from Gigi's blog. Great post and analogy. Loved all your pictures of the Royal Wedding in your previous post.
You posted at 2:53am and you get up at 5:30am - you don't need much sleep!
It is true that two same things can be different and two different the same - God is amazing that way.
And like birds - why is the male pretty and the female so plain?

Plain Jane or not it's still a beauty in it's own special way :) I'm with everyone else and love the analogy.
I like your idea of a yard, little or no grass and more flowers and greenery.Even a plain jane flower looks lovely.Have a wonderful relaxing day.
And the lord must have spoke to Madeline also, but she did not pay attention. Thank gooddness for that. Look what she got "Pat".
Sometimes its hard to not look at the outward appearance and to keep from judging. This is a great anology Sandra.
Love your "Plain Jane".
It may be considered the 'Plain Jane' of your garden, but gives in another way with it's shelter and inspiration.
Lovely scripture quote, how appropriate !
Hugs,

I didn't realize birds of paradise were such gigantic plants!
Yours is still pretty, it is just white instead of orange. I would like to see a close-up of it just like the orange one. The orange one shouts, yours hums.
Now that is a pretty flower! My first thought when I saw your header..great verse
oh wow what a beautiful header!!!
and yes great inspirations: flowers & trees!
Love
Leontien
Always enjoy your thoughts and plants.
The more colorful variety may catch the eye first but to me white flowers are so elegant. I'm like Ginny, I would love to see a close up of the white.
