Painted by the Sun

If you look at the leaf to far right, it is just dark green and ordinary, but the one in the center, even though half of the top has been eaten away by some critter, the Sun has painted it for a few short moments and transformed it into beauty.

The difference you see in these two photos, is a change of White Balance, top was Daylight WB and Below was Shade WB

Great illustration of the miracles of the sun :) I woke up to a grey and wet morning so no sun/shadow experiments today!

An example of "It's moment in the sun"...

Prefer the Shade WB effect. It's more my-color-liking.

Thank you! You have your comments, so that I can pop back up and look at pics, _while_ I am composing comment. :-)

NEW blog header.

Wishing you a safe and happy Labor Day weekend. "Auntie"

The sun transforms it for a few short moments and you capture it forever. It's amazing what you can do with a camera. Also, living here, where nature is pretty much beige right now, to see this deep green is so refreshing.

I tried to do that in the early morning up in Pinetop when the sun hit the tops of the pines. Didn't work well. I'll have to post a picture.

A little bit of sunshine can make such a difference. I love how the sun lights up the leaves. This is just my personal preference, but I like the WB on shade setting. I think it gives the images a warmer look. That's my two cents worth.

Lovely capture of "sun painting." A local garden columnist calls this season on the northern Gulf Coast "hurricane summer" and says the light is such that it adds vibrancy to the colors and textures of gardens here.

I think the dramatic bump in vibrancy and texture in your flamingo header results from the fine photoshopping of MadSnapper. Should we add another alias, Mad PhotoShopper?

Have a great week. Hubby and I have been safe but lazy during Isaac, but I will be catching up on blog visits and posts in the next few days.

My favorite time to take photos is late afternoon when the sunlight is not so much a problem, Sandra. Thanks for the primer here.

the sun is an excellent painter and your captured the art well. In those last two pictures I like the look of the one with the white balance set for shade

I really like your photos of the sunlight on the leaves. White balance settings can make quite a difference, can't they?

It is amazing to see what the sun can do with colors. I really like your close up of the leaf in the second photo. It really brings out the veins and details.

I love those leaves and the way you captured their markings. Nothing more lovely than green. God knew it would be a soothing to the eye color.

I like how white settings change the look of photos. I often like the golden look that shade gives.
