Staghorn replay... on year later

June 2013 our stag-horn fell from the oak when the limb broke off.

Last week June 2014 exactly one year later and the day before the tree man took down our tree, the stag-horn Fell Again, this time the chains broke.
(the tree that came down last year was in June and this year we took one down)

does this mean the staghorn KNOWS the other trees are dead? does it fall the week before to give us a warning?

or is June Just Jabbing us each year

Said Staghorn is still lying on the ground because it now weighs about 150 pounds
Last year post was Platyceriun Hissy Fit  if you missed that story.

Bob says he does not need help, we just need to buy new chains... I have not bought the chains because we DO need help...
it might just lie there until one of us dies.

This is our Platycerium (staghorn) that lives in the back yard, still hanging at this time and the sun shinning on it and the orange hibiscus gives me joy every morning.

That's a very persistent stag horn! Don't let Bob move it himself. I remember your hissy fit post from last year :)

Such an interesting plant. And I think about things in relation to other things too. "last year this happened, then this happened . . bla bla bla "

150 pounds? Wow. I don't know much about them, but can it be divided up into smaller, lighter sections? Just a thought. Love that beautiful color of the hibiscus.

Thanks for the great laugh. I went back and read your past posts on this. I'm wondering how MY HUSBAND got down there to work with you without me knowing!!!

Yes, plants and animals do know when their host is dying. "Like rats leaving a sinking ship"

It is a beautiful plant. Maybe you can divide it and place it in several trees.

Throw down a gardening glove and settle the issue with a duel!!

Good gravy don't let him attempt to move it!! If he gets chains and hoists it up with a pulley of some sort, it would be not be as heavy...but then again, maybe it just down!!!!...:)JP

Pictures are gorgeous today! Love the last one! Here is my theory. It knows the tree is dead and it likes to thrive on something alive, so it jumps ship...it wants a new home.

Bonnie has me howling with laughter, she has such a dry wit.

How beautiful and also sad that the one broke off. We don't get them over here. Lovely with the sun shining through.

I don't know what is going on with your stag horn in June, but if you do get it put up in another tree be careful about standing under it in June.

Wow! I wonder how many billions of years it took for the stag horn to develop that kind of intuition! ;-)

That is a huge Staghorn. I have always thought they were beautiful. Here they are grown in greenhouses and if one knows how as houseplants.

Too heavy to try to hang, for sure without lots of help. Thanks for sharing the photos.

What is it about men that they insist they can do things themselves.
Quite the coincidence with the trees and the staghorn

That Staghorn must know that it's JUNE --and time to take a leap!!!!!! I remember your hissy fit from last year... Can't wait to see where it is and what it does in June of 2015.... (Don't stand under it during JUNE. ha)
Hugs,
Betsy

Ok I will admit that when I first read this post, Sandra, inhad no idea what a staghorn was (sorry don't recall last year's). But after re reading it and the comments, I figured out that it is some sort of very large plant, which obviously needs a new home and help to hoist it there.

Can't believe it weighs that much. Yes he should definitely have help with it!
