Here's The Scoop

Our temps have been crazy here in Florida since November.. after and extremely hot summer, our temps have been on a roller coaster from way down to way up...

The oak tree is putting out pollen, dropping little brown allergy thingys.. ACHOOO! which is what we do in March.

Grapefruit tree has blooms/itty bitty grapefruit and big ones ready to pick, all at the same time. And above is a ring sized hibiscus that should be as big as my palm...

The temps may look good to someone in the frozen north but having March in Dec and January has confused the plants, killing some and making other bloom.  Watch for our citrus to go up in price in a few weeks.

NO SUN, USED FLASH AND PICMONKEY

Look what else is confused. Bananas in January? We have had them in June, July, August and September, but never ever never in January... they will not survive. they need HEAT and Sunshine.

We have had more gray days with no sunshine in the first 15 days of 2015 than we had in the whole year of 2014. we are the Sunshine state and it is MIA.

IS YOUR WEATHER THIS YEAR THE Norm OR DIFFERENT?

That is a worry when the plants can't work out the season. We are having hotter weather than usual and last year was hotter than any previous year.

Bananas in your garden are strange enough for me, let alone Bananas in January :)

I m sorry about your confused trees! Our weather is typical January. Cold and gloomy. I get depressed without the sun for so long.

Our weather is colder here in NH than we have experienced in VA over the past dozen years. But as natives of NJ we are used to similar temps. But reading your post, Sandra, it seems your winter is as chilly as those now in VA. Too bad about the confused fruit and plants.

Wow...those tiny hibiscus flowers are adorable. Never saw any that tiny.

There is no NORMAL for Indiana...it is just so changeable. We did have a spell a while back where we went for almost two weeks with hardly any sun...I bet all told during that time we only got 4 or 5 hours of sunlight...I was ready to go south for sure then.

that is crazy. the plants, birds and animals must all be in a tizzy.

Yes, our weather is so back and forth! It goes to twenty at night, but then it is over 40 and sunny and pretty. Like now...it is beautiful now. We have had some days over 60! And then ice and freezing mix. Shortly after we had 60 degree temps, we got snow and the schools were delayed. It is crazy! Funny, I have been thinking of your bananas the last few days. You both eat them, right? Gosh, you will have none of your goodies from your garden to eat now. I wonder if we have messed up the environment so much, or what is going on?

I think our weather is slightly abnormal right now. I was watching a program on the drought in California- how severe it is, and it reminded me of our drought here that lasted a good three years. These climate changes are not good.

It's been weird. And more so, depressing. I don't mind the chill in the air...it's the lack of sunshine that makes me moody. LOL

for a while our weather was unseasonably warm but right now we're running about normal.

Your right - the weather is different. We always have sun even if it is cold - and we have had one dreary day after the next. It is like Chicago where we left.

It seems that unusual is the new normal for most parts of North America. We have had bitter cold and a day or two later the snow is almost melting.Crazy!

That is crazy how it messes with the fruit trees!

Our weather, our plants and animals have been confused for two years.

Oranges have already gone up in price.

Great pictures.

Our weather over here has been weird too lately, it can't seem to decide if it's gonna be frosty or mild, it varies from day to day.

Ours is a roller coaster, too. I'm thankful for a few "warm" days after the really cold week. Interesting how "warm" is a relative term depending on previous temps!

Oh No, poor plants are confused... And Yes, those prices will be going up! :(

Such a shame about losing some of the plants due to the mixed up weather. We have had a lot of rain/fog. Finally yesterday, the sun came out and it felt great. Little Harriet was at the vet Thurs. with an infection on her tummy. He aspirated a blood blister and gave me ointment to smooth on her stomach twice a day.

We're having crazy weather too...but so far no citrus trees are blooming here. ;))

it looks like halcyon days worldwide. "halcyon days," which are days of warm sun that usually happen towards the end of January...

your tiny hibiscus are lovely. great shots!

No rain, mornings in the high 30's, temps in the afternoon of high 50's and now dense tulle fog.
We sure need the rain but oh I wish the warmer weather was here. I hate sitting in the house in long sleeves and sweaters.

Oh my! I hate to hear that your bananas and fruit trees are messed up right now! Our weather in WV has been crazy too. Today it was warm enough to wear shorts outside I'd say. Last week it was below zero windchill factors. Last year this time we had some good snows with accumulations. This year we had a dusting one morning but it didn't last long and nothing worth taking a picture of! lol That's why I haven't posted any pictures of snow. The snow is MIA!
