I printed the lyrics for those of you who just can't listen to Bluegrass Music, I come from The South, Kentucky and Georgia, and I love this type of Bluegrass, not all of it but a lot of it... This was playing Saturday AM on the way home from Walmart.
At my age I am not ready for the angel band to come and pick me up, but I am prepared for my immortal home if the band shows up...
Angel Band
The latest sun is sinking fast, my race has nearly run
My strongest trials now are past, my triumph is begun
O come Angel Band, come and around me stand
O bear me away on your snow white wings to my immortal home
O bear me away on your snow white wings to my immortal home
I know I'm near the holy ranks of friends and kindred dear
I've brushed the dew on Jordan's banks, the crossing must be near
I've almost gained my Heavenly home, my spirit loudly sings
The Holy ones, behold they come, I hear the noise of wings
O bear my longing heart to Him who bled & died for me
Whose blood now cleanses from all sin and gives me victory
Songwriters: L. Chancler / R. Andrews
Sung by The Stanley Brothers.

Yes, I know Angel Band, and love it! Phil has played and sung it in church I think. But we do it more as a straight ballad or hymn...never heard it as bluegrass. It is a beautiful song for sure.
I can listen to bluegrass but I normally can't hear videos very well. I like the lyrics.
Hello, I listen to some bluegrass and country music. The lyrics are pretty.
Thanks for sharing. Have a happy day!
I enjoyed your video very much. The long-time pastor of my hometown church (who passed away about a year ago) would often sing this at the end of our Sunday night church service - your post brings back fond memories. Have a blessed day.
What a beautiful Sunday song(...and btw, love Oh Brother Where Art Thou, too!)
I love bluegrass too.....and especially banjo. Vince Gill can sing to me any day.
Hugs Cecilia
I love Bluegrass.
I really do like some Bluegrass and these words are good too.
Backsides...I thought you would like the title...HaHa.
I never thought of no backside as being a problem before.
That definitely is not my problem. I'm all backside, hips and thighs.
I guess God made each of us uniquely different for a reason...(:0)
I can listen to almost every genre of music and enjoy it. Except rap, or hip-hop ... is that even 'music'?
While I'd heard of this movie, Angel Band is new to me. (Me and the dogs! I was sitting outside with my tablet and they came running pell-mell, trying to figure where that music was coming from.)
I am a 60s and 70s music person....although I do like todays country. I am more in TUNE (haha) to the 70s!
I've heard that song since I was a child. My Dad loved Bluegrass music and this would have just perfect for him.I do agree with you that I still enjoy most of my life and feel I have more of it left to live, but I am ready to join that Angel Band when the call comes.
My first introduction to Blue Grass was that movie, found my toe tapping throughout. Thanks for the lyrics, I will be singing along :)
I do love this song and bluegrass! Beautiful lyrics.
Beautiful words.
I have that CD somewhere...I seldom listen to music now cause Roger is always watching TV.
