Jake Scenting

not bad for 13 years 4 months eh?

Jake is losing his sight but his scenting is doing ok. Taken 3 days ago while he scented the dog on the other side of the fence.

Question!  Do you have a fire or emergency plan for your family and for your dogs? As in you wake up in the middle of the night with house on fire OR a serial killer is kicking down the door (HA HA)

We do... I am a plan ahead person. I have checked the windows to see if I will fit through them.. I DO... we have a leash in the garage, one in the kitchen and one hanging in the bedroom.   If we need to go out the window in the bedroom, We jump up, leash Jake, I go out window, Bob hands Jake out to me and climbs out..  WE HAVE NOT Practiced this.... YET.... the leash is ready...

PS 1.. if you have cats make a better plan...

PS 2 if we have time, grab the important papers box, or the flash drives to take with us. If the fire is hot or the serial killer is on our heals, leave that stuff.... 😉

These photos of Jake are cute as can be. Being gone so long yesterday (11 hours) I got to thinking that I should have a note by the door saying how many cats/dog are in the house in case there was a fire etc in our absence.

Back when my kids were in school, as one of the fire safety things they had going on, we came up with a plan of escape. I have no idea what it is anymore though.
I think I would be in trouble if I had to hand a heavy dog out the window to someone else.

This is a great idea... when I had my 'angels', I did have something similar. Not so much for house fire, but an evacuation plan in case of bushfire - a real risk where we lived. Jake is a handsome and well-proportioned gentledog! YAM xx

Hello, Jake is looking great. I prefer not thinking about fires and serial killers. I am glad our house is only one floor so we would have easy access out the windows and doors. I do worry about our important papers. Happy Friday, enjoy your weekend.

Jake is such a great companion for you. That is a good idea about the emergency plan. Hope you will have a nice Friday!

Jake is such a handsome dude with the prettiest furs....his scenting is extra super duper.

Oh how many times have we thought about your question about an er exit.
We do of course. I just don't know what/where Madi would do/be if our big honking security smoke/fire alarm went off. It sounds like a fog horn.
If it is just the battery one in the ceiling she would be easy to get too.
Even slept thru it going off in the middle of the night in December when the battery low beep started. Didn't budge when her Dad cussed all the way to/from the garage with the ladder either. LOL
Hugs Madi and mom

Jake is a cutie! My plan is to go out my bedroom window which is right next to my bed. I haven't figured out what to do about the cat though, but she is usually in the bed with me so I could try throwing her out first!

Cut photo of Jake. No we really don't have a specific plan. I do however have a package of my medications ready to go.

It looks like y'all have kept Jake in great shape! (I'd say 'cutie patootie', but fear that might offend him, so I'll think it real quiet-like.)

No, we've not discussed an escape plan. No excuses, and now's a perfect time to begin. I've still not discovered all my boxes of family photos, which makes me sick.

What kind of dog breed is Jake? His markings/stripes are unusual. You know we have a fire plan for us - but not Disco - we are going to correct that this weekend - thank you.

Have a blessed Easter. Love, Sandie

Having been in a fire I can say that even if you make -lans that will not always work out due to the unpredictable location of what will harm you. And smoke dectors are not helpful in getting away from flames. Jake sure looks great.

We definitely have an emergency plan in case of fire or earthquake. I have an emergency backback with dog supplies, clothes and bottled water next to my bed...just in case!
