Not Through the Looking Glass.

Today is my 74th Birthday, and I did not shoot through the looking glass, but through the glass chimney a reflection in the looking glass of my kitchen, dog wall and my camera.

Back in the olden days I had a Real Estate Broker that refused to look at herself in a full length mirror. The only mirror in her home, was the short bathroom wall mirror, that showed only shoulders and face. She would come to work and ask if her slip was showing and ask for approval of how the bottom half looked. She hated her hips and legs and refused to ever look at anything but her face. I often wondered how she knew to hate the hips and legs? it is still a mystery.

Please answer the following questions...

A. Do  you know what a slip is?
B. do you still own one?
C. Do you wear one?
(I own 2 half slips, bottom and top and have not worn them for 30  years, I wore a top half slip under every blouse, and either a full or half for skirts and dresses.)

D. Do you have a full length Mirror in you house?  Do you look at yourself in it after you get dressed?
(yes, I have one and never ever never walk out the door without checking all four sides of me)

Jake has chased these balls for 14 years, 5 and 6 times a day until he dropped in exhaustion. Now he carries it around like a teddy bear, and leaves it where it falls out of his mouth, My heart aches when I see it.

Happy Birthday! I hope my card has arrived by now. But I didn't remember that Monday is a postal holiday! My mom used to make me wear slips all the time. I haven't worn one in about 50 years now. And I don't have any either. I don't know why they were ever popular, except for extreme modesty. Oprah did a show segment about it once. And she said, what's the worst you can see without a slip? The shadow of a leg maybe. I have never heard of a ball lasting this long, I am glad he gets some comfort from it. It must be his teddy bear. Or teddy ball.

Happy Birthday!!!!
I have a whole drawer full of slips - different lengths and none of them full ones. I don't wear them much anymore. Sometimes they keep the static cling from being so bad in the winter.
I have lots and lots of mirrors! And yes, I have floor to ceiling ones that I check out how I look before going out.
At the ranch I only have one full length one and we hung it in our unfinished bathroom.

Happy Birthday to you
Happy Birthday to you
Happy Birthday dear Sandra
Happy Birthday to you.

I do know what a slip is
I have one, it's a half one.
I haven't worn it in who knows how long. I don't ever wear a dress so there's no need.
I do also have a full length mirror and I do use it after I get dressed but only if I'm going somewhere other than work. I don't really care what I look like when I go to work.

Happy Birthday, Sandra!
No slips here... for years. I haven't worn a dress in over 20 years.
I have a full length mirror and yep I look after I get dressed before I go out. I just read your latest blogs about Jake and was so moved. I am so happy he is with you and your husband.

Happy Birthday, Sandra!

I remember slips and...I still have one. Yes, I wear it if I wear a dress. I can not.not.wear it. It is instilled in me like wearing white after Labor day. What am I, Martha Stewart?? ;-)

Happy Happy Bday to our Mad Snapper One!! Give Jake a hug from us in honor of your 74th bday.

We see you in your photo too...right on the left center.
I do own several half slips...Not sure why though I have not worn a dress...
probably since the summer of 2010. How do I remember that well I only wore dresses in the summer when I worked. The dresses were summery and light and came to about mid calf no need for hose or panty hose. I would not wear a knee length dress or skirt w/o hose..
The last summer I worked was 2010. Retired April 2011.
I do not have a full length mirror. There are 4 mirrors (2 dressers and two bathroom mirrors) in the house that give me a view down to just past my tush.
Hugs Madi and Mom

Happy Birthday Sandra! Yes, I have a few slips half and full length. But, I do not wear dresses often. I also have a full length mirror, I check sometimes. My dogs often kept a ball sitting close to them too.

Enjoy your day!

Yes, I had slips and I needed a full length mirror because my little sister was always telling me my slip was showing lol. I also wore a garter belt to hold up my stockings. Now I don't own a dress or a slip or pantyhose. Slacks are easier. I hope Jake has a better day today.

First things first. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!
Yes I know what a slip is. It is a petticoat :)
I think I have a 1/2 one and unlike Oprah, if a skirt was revealing I would wear it. I am partial to denim jumpers which require no slip.
No full length mirror at the present and I miss our sliding doors where I did my final check before going away.
Now I have a question. Do you look the same in your mirrors as you do in a selfie?
I look in the mirror and find myself at least presentable and then if I take a selfie I wonder who that person is that's needs some work.

Happy Birthday to you!!! I hope it's a great birthday. Yes I do know what a slip is, I keep one in my dresser drawer just in case I ever need it, but am not sure what it's for except to create static electricity. Lol
Oh Jake.. xxxooo

I wish I was there to say Happy Birthday to you in person.
I see we are a year apart...me the older "sister".
That photo of the ball makes me so sad. Such a lonely shot.
Yes, I think those of us of a certain age know what slips are.
I have a half slip..knee length and a long half slip too.
Haven't worn either one in years..I really don't wear dresses at all.
I do have a pair of what were called Pettipants. Like a slip but pant legs.
I did wear them some years ago because my thighs got so sweaty..TMI...haha.

HAPPPPPPY BIRTHDAY, my friend! Is/was there a Culver's involved? :)

Your first slide is such a cool effect, and the last makes my heart ache. Definitely, defines a picture being worth a thousand words.

Yes, I remember slips -- but never heard of a top-half one before. Do you remember pantiloons? They were all the rage in junior high; mine were bright red with lace at the bottom. I've only two (bottom) half slips remaining which belong to two dresses. I hardly wear them anytmore, but you know what they say about Murphy's Law. Thanks to our home's previous occupant, I've a full-length mirror on the back of a bedroom door. Before that, I'd have to stand on a folding chair in the bathroom. Not pretty, lol!

Happy Birthday, to you, Happy Birthday to you! Happy Birthday, dear Sandra, Happy Birthday to you!

Yes, I know what a slip is, I don't own one...don't own a dress or skirt either. I do have a full length mirrow, and look in it sometimes. I don't like anything I see in the mirrow, except that I am still breathing. LOL

How I feel for you with Jake...

Yes, no, and no. I never dress up anymore, unless I am absolutely forced to!

Happy Birthday. Hugs to Jake, if he's accepting them.

Sorry my commenting is behind. Happy Birthday for yesterday! Sending lots of love and a hug to Jake. I haven't worn a slip for years. I have a few full and half ones at the bottom of a drawer. I don't know why I keep them, but they remind me of my mother who always looked smart in a dress. I don't often wear a dress or skirt as I feel comfortable in jeans and a T shirt or blouse. I always check in a full length mirror before going out.

Belated Happy Birthday wishes Sandra. I hope your day and the entire year will be happy for you!
I appreciated all your comments on my blog posts during our recent cross country road trip. It was a fun and long trip and we’re still catching up on things back in NH. I hope to return to blog reading and posting by this weekend.

Yes, I do know what a slip is and have several and a couple of half-slips. Also some camisoles. Only wear any of these when dress up is required, which is seldom these days...except for family weddings and there are 2 this year. Still have nylon stockings as well and again only used for special occasions. No full length mirrors in the apartment, thank goodness.

Hope Jake is doing better.

Happy Birthday sweet Sandra! Yes, I know what a slip is. I have some half slips and a full slip. The last time I wore a slip was when I wore a skirt and attended a wedding twenty years ago. Poor sweet Jake, it hurts my heart that he can no longer chase balls. Have a super day and I hope Jake is doing better today. Hugs for you and nose kisses for sweet Jake.

Happy Belated Birthday wishes. I hope you had a nice day.
Yes, I know what a slip is. - Haven't worn one in years though and don't even think I have any around the house anymore. Funny story...One day when I was at work one of my male co-workers walked past me and said, "It's snowing down south." - I replied, "That's nice." - He then repeated it and apparently I had an odd look on my face so he whispered, "Your slip is showing." and I realized then what he meant. I had never heard that expression before.
So sorry that Jake isn't doing so well but I know you give him the best care you possibly can and he is loved so much.

Happy Birthday! Hope you had a nice day yesterday. Yes I know what a slip is and yes I own one or two. If I wear a dress I would wear one but I seldom if ever wear a dress or skirt. I can't say we have a full length mirror but I can pretty much see myself almost full length.
