Pygmy Palms Walk a Mile

walk a mile pygmy palms
We climbed in my Kia at 5:17 AM headed for the daily YMCA visit.

The dry sound of clicking is what we heard when I twisted the key... OH NO! she says quietly 😁 I Told you the battery is old and to replace it. HE says  that was a few months ago. YES, it was she says quietly 😉

We transfer to his truck, it starts. The problem now is. I DON"T RIDE with him driving. If we are together I DRIVE...it is dark. HE says... I don't ever drive in the DARK...
I reply... Don't even go there, I am already upset enough. I say their is a detour, he says I KNOW... we get to it, he starts to turn the wrong way. NO, I say QUIETLY 😁 get in the other lane, noooo not that one … again he says I don't ever drive in the dark..... sighhhhh

The reason I don't ride with him, is he thinks his name is Dale Earnhardt, in his other life before me, he was a drag racer and the president of their Racing club in PA.... He has admitted he was impeached/fired as president BECAUSE he broke the RULES by drag racing on The Streets.

I get to the pool and tell this story to my captive audience friend, and she says who is Earnhardt?

Do you know?   to be continued
Odd palm, no idea what kind

Technically, I believe that last one to be cordyline and not a true palm at all. Mostly they are grown in pots, but if 'grounded' they can grow surprisingly large. Dunno about the Earnhardt though... YAM xx

I would have thought that Dale Earnhardt was a big enough name that you wouldn't need to be a racing fan to know the name. So Bob was a bit of a rebel huh? When we would drive to Wade's dads house he would always tell me about how fast he used to drive on certain roads. I do believe Bob and Wade were cut from the same cloth.
Sorry about the battery. Did you get a new one?

Oh my! Your blood pressure must have been sky high by the time you got to the Y. Good thing you could work off the stress. But then there was the matter of going back home. But at least it would have been daylight by then. I had no idea about the car club, it really did tickle me. The palms are truly stunning!!

I've read the two posts and I had to smile as I can relate to the experience when being a passenger with Hubs driving, checking receipts etc. as I do the paperwork in our house. Love the palm trees.

Hello,

I have some family members who love car racing. My brother went to Daytona for the race every year for like 40 years or so. So, I have heard of Dale.
Dale (junior) has a fixer upper show on HGTV with his wife.

You two sound like me and my hubby, I do all the driving and do not like driving in the dark. I will drive in the dark if I have to.

Love the palm trees. Have a great day!

You always give me a smile with your posts.
I do know who Dale is...Hubby loves to watch the races...any kind...Nascar etc.
Dave is a good driver and I would rather he drive than me. Neither of us like to drive after dark much anymore.
I'm waiting for my new glasses...maybe that will help.
You guys sure are early birds...my morning starts a whole lot later than yours.
Of course we stay up way later than you do too.
Love the palm photos.

Oh, Sandra, yes I know who Earnhardt is...sitting here with tears in my eyes from laughing. I am in a laughing mood...remembering things Roger did. Am on phone so wont go into detail...

Ooooooh no! I can't believe anyone would have the gall to impeach sweet, lovable Bob. (Is that why he left Pennsylvania?) At least Bob admits that he doesn't drive in the dark! I've been that way for a few years, but Tom's 'night blindness' has come on recently … I'm cowering in the passenger seat while he's in denial.

And(!) you have me rolling on the floor every time I read, "quietly."

I think the face that Bob was a bit of an Earnheardt in his younger days makes him perfect for you LOL.

Yes, I know who the late Dale Earnhardt was as well and I agree that men and women have different driving "skills" which is why I usually let Grenville drive on long trips...and even short ones!

Those are great palm shots on your walk. I know who Earnhardt is, father and son right? Father is no longer with us if I am remembering correctly. My friends think I have a bit of a led foot, which I disagree vehemently.

I would love to know what this made me think of with Roger...Dale Earnhardt was my mom's favorite racer. I can't stand to watch car races...neither can Roger. All of my family just about it loves racing. Not sure about sisters, but brothers, and my mom, and several aunts and uncles.
