8 Ball Saturday

I asked the 8 ball what I should post on Saturday. Here You Go

I ordered 5 items from Amazon, glucosamine for canine, and also a bottle for humans, vitamins, you know, over the counter things. Email stated 3 packages on the way, one on Friday, two on Saturday.

Saturday at noon, email arrives from USPS stating:
Attempt to deliver package, no one home, left pink slip in mail box
We were home, no pink slip in mail box, but one package was in mailbox. JOY dog treats.
I check tracking number, find note stating Package left at Bradenton Post Office for Pickup Per Owner instructions.

WHAT? and by the way there are FOUR Bradenton Post offices.
I go to USPS.com and try to pretend I have a pink slip, it will not let me redirect the package without the NUMBER from the PINK slip I don't Have.

I call USPS support, 5 frustrated minutes of poking numbers and it says over an hour wait for service. Gives me option to be called back in over an hour. I choose that option.

90 minutes later, phone rings and it states, we are returning your call, please hold and I hear hold music.. for about 2 minutes, Bob is saying, didn't They Call YOU?
Well, YES!
Finally, Teresa offers her services, I explain what I just told you.
She types in the 8 mile long tracking number and says, it say here left at Bradenton Post office, per owner request...…

I repeat for the 2nd time the story told above.
We Were Home. This is a repeat order of OTC vitamins and such and requires no signing.
let me share with you what we think happened.

the guy brought it, did not realize the order was split in two packages, placed one package in the mail box, got down the street and found the big box, part 2 of order and thought OH CRAP and because he did not want to come back, he made up this story.

She laughed until she was breathless and said they are not supposed to do that, but it COULD happen....through her laughter, she said is Monday delivery alright? or do you need it sooner. I said I might survive until Monday without vitamins... more laughter....

It came at noon on Monday and I patted myself on the back for not losing my temper over a box of vitamins. Laughter not temper got my delivery quickly. Plus laughter is good for the soul. I must say, it had been a new camera, or tablet, or DEVICE I might not have been so nice.

I do not own an 8 ball. photo from interent

i must say your theory is genius. I would never have thought of it! Do you belong to Amazon Prime? We have a free month that we got from buying the fire. So tell me about it. How much, and besides free shipping is it worth it? I have been buying stuff because for awhile now we have free shipping and free returns. I guess you heard about the Amazon founder Jeff Bezos.

I admire your composure.

Good for you keeping your cool and laughing your way through it. Having someone with a sense of humor helping you makes a difference too. I've had to call places where the person I was dealing with was a bit on the rude side. That always makes your attitude towards the situation even worse.

Only in America. Sometimes I think they should re-route the carriers. To Timbuktu or some far, far, away area.

I live in a place considered 'remote' by delivery companies (other than Amazon) so pay a premium for delivery. When they don't arrive as planned it is very difficult to keep one's cool! Well done you. YAM xx

Well done and related to the rest of us with your usual wry and/or dry humor.

Props to you for taking the high road. You probably made that customer service rep's whole day!
Me, I'd have had steam coming out both ears … not a fan of the Postal Service at ALL! Because we don't order that much online anymore, I discontinued our Amazon Prime membership. Besides, more often than not they initially ship via FedEx -- who winds up transferring my parcel to the USPS. Grrrrr!

You are a problem solver! That's probably exactly what happened! Good for you using humor. It works so much better, doesn't it??
Out here at the ranch, we don't get any deliveries other than what can go in the mailbox up by the gate. Once Amber sent me flowers for Mother's Day when we were here. That was funny! They ended up at our house in Irving. Home Depot delivers here but ot much else.

Laughing here too and proof positive one catches more flies/packages with honey than vinegar. Mail nowadays amazes me. Since Not Earl retired we are convinced our new guy, Not, Not Earl, delivers all junk on one day and then the next day first class mail. Rarely do we get junk and 1st class on the same day. LOL
Loved this post

Again humor rules....
I just hate the loops one must go through to get some answers...press one press two...round and round.
So glad you got your vitamins though I don't think you really need them...you seem perky enough without them.

I need to remember that...though it is usually true...it is just sometimes hard not to let the frustration show. Glad they arrived!

You took the high road, good for you. On another side of a story I heard our doorbell, was a bit tardy answering and got there to find my slip stuck on the door just as the mailman was pulling away from the curb. Two minutes later another ring on the door and it was our mailman who said, I just saw you come to the door and came back! I thanked him profusely as I signed for my package, he smiled, I smiled and off he went.

You are very lucky to have such good service from USPS!!!! I could tell you our USPS nightmares. Suffice to say, I pay extra to avoid USPS shipping... it is the absolute worst in terms of delivery in our area...

Good job on the humor rather than temper!

That's crazy. I'm so fed up with services today. He should have gone back to deliver to you. Just wait until you read my post of my experiences with two of my doctor's offices!!
