Can you find Mama Cardinal in above photo? if not see below
Can you see her now? The problem is I removed her fist nest from this dangerous place and she built another in the same place. She is sitting about 4 feet off the ground, in the powder puff bush JUST at Stand Up On Hind Paws Head Level of Big. She has survived for a week, and I dread the babies.
The most obvious way to tell this is a legless lizard, is it has eyelids and snakes do not. NO, I did not bend close enough to check for eyelids, I just held my cell phone about a foot over him and snapped.
They are common in Florida and eat insect and spiders and they are often eaten by birds or snakes.
for those of you just dying to know more, these are called glass snakes because they can lose their tales and grow new ones. just like lizards that have legs... You may have missed a few or two of my TWENTY EIGHT posts on lizards. Click HERE to see a few that have legs and no tails

I would absolutely throw up if I had to hold my camera a foot above this lizard. Even if it isn't a snake. So interesting, and I did not know any of this. But, what does growing new tails have to do with glass? I saw the cardinal!! Yes, I did. You really have tried your best to help the unhatched babies. Keep us posted on them. We have the same problem every year with the house finches building a nest in a low tree beside our living room window. Several nests each time, never giving up, yet no babies ever survive.
My eyes are getting worse every day it seems....I could not see the cardinal even when I zoomed in!
I did manage to find it in the end but had to enlarge the picture, as for the grass snake, well there's something you've taught me, I didn't know they had eyelids.
Snakes don't bother me and if it isn't poisonous I could hold one.
Do Hope the bird and young survive. If they do I can feel some more pics coming on. lol

I did find the cardinal but had to enlarge it to see it.
I thought it was a snake. That's good for it that it can grow a new tail but the whole thing looks like a tail.
I'll pass on reading more. No thanks. They're slithery. I don't do slithery.
I was way off on finding mama cardinal.
Hello,
I did find the Cardinal. She is cute peeking out of the plant. I have never seen or heard of the Florida Glass Snake, it is cool. Have a happy day!
Hope the Cardinal's babies will be safe. Even though it is aonly a lizard it is still creepy.
I see Mama Cardinal... I has always amazed me where some birds choose to nest.
The Killdeer bird makes her nest smack in the middle of any where gravel then she has to guard furever
Hugs Cecilia
I have found that most birds can be persistent about a nest sites all you can do is hope for the best.
Hi Sandra, I had to zoom in and then press my nose to my laptop screen before I saw the cardinal. I hope the babies will be safe. What an interesting snake. You taught me something about all snakes, the fact that they don't have eyelids. Be safe and have a great weekend. Jo
I did not see her! Till you pointed her out! The legless lizard gives me the creeps more than a snake. I don't know why.
You have such interesting wildlife down there and I love your lizard photos, this one too, so interesting. As for Mrs. Cardinal, I looked long and hard for her and found her eventually. She is well camouflaged and interesting she builds her nest so low. Like you I hope the babies do okay. BB is such a sweet boy, maybe he will be their protector.
I spotted that mama cardinal right away...that pretty beak gave her away. I hope all goes well when the babies hatch. I had never heard of or seen a glass snake before...very interesting. Hugs and have a great weekend sweet Sandra
Oh my, he sure looks like a snake. So mama Cardinal is determined to be in that spot. Hope the babies do okay.
Wgart a sneaky little Mama cardinal! I almost missed her!
Despite Tom's best efforts, 'our' mama Cardinal has chosen a similar, not-so-safe locale in the bush right by where Tom sits each morning. Maybe they prefer something closer to the ground than the tall pines? Nature is wonderful and frightening at the same time!
Safe or not, I'm trying to acknowledge that snake … brrrrr!
We only two snakes are native here in North Idaho is gardener and the Rubber Boa
Coffee is on
