Hello 1970s

I have been trying for months to clean out the cabinet that holds 87 million albums of photos. Each Time I take out an album, I must check to see what is in it. Two hours later I put them all back, sigh and walk away....the cabinet still stuffed to the gills.

Last week the first one I pulled out had these photos of my son's, Above is David, 5 years old, now 54.

Dan is the small one, 3 years old, and 53 now and my Dad laughing behind them. Probably because they would not let any of the adults have a turn at Rockem Sockem Robots..I don't think kids would play with these today.

I can't remember just whose idea it was to get two guitars, but the year my aunt sent two DRUMS, I threatened her if she did that again.. I was so happy when one of them STEPPED on the drum.

My Dad wanted a professional photo. I was using a blanket on the clothesline and my cheap $9.99 Polaroid... I only succeeded in creating a photo looks like it was taken in 1882.

I wish my parents could see these Cell phone pics of the old pics that I posted on a Computer so we could look at photos of my photos. They would be amazed.

Mother and David and Daniel

Yes, it took me ages to adapt to digital, so in love with film was I - but now, I can't imagine not having the ability to snap, snip, resize and share!!! YAM xx

I remember Rockem Sockem Robots. Those were a big toy back in the day. I can't remember who had them but I do remember playing.
Loving all these old pictures. It's fun to take a look back and walk down memory lane. Most of the old pictures I have are not very good.

Hello,

These old photos are treasures. I have some old family photos scanned into my computer but no where near all of them. Enjoy your day!

Sandra, the rock-em, sock-em robots must have made a comeback, like Slinky, because I saw the toy in a store during the holiday season😀 and like you, I also have albums of older photos that I look at, sometimes. Years ago, people DID look at photo albums not cell phone images. Thanks for sharing these timeless images of your family.

These photos are priceless. That's a project I have to work on two. I have thousands of photos in boxes that take up two big cabinets in our kitchen. I want to pick the best of the best and get rid of the rest.

My son had the Rockem Sockem Robots and I bet he could get my son and his son to play with them!!!
Gee Sandra - you were always taking photographs - it is not a later in life thing - you have been doing it all along! Love your dad's picture.
Thanks for sharing some of your past.

There is nothing like going through old photo albums...
I love to do that too.
I put back my baby book so well that now I can't find it again.
Not into cleaning another closet at the moment so I will just have to wait...
I agree..I think my folks would be totally amazed by the digital age...cell phones that take pictures...unbelievable...
Wish they were around to see it. My Dad would be there right on the front line , learning everything he could about it. He's been gone 33 years on the 13th.

I LOVE these 'olden' photos! Gosh, Christmas 1970 doesn't seem that long ago … my own son was but 1 yr. old. Even at 3 y/o, I can't get over how very much Dan resembles you! That pose with their guitars cracks me up.

On a serious note, my heart can't decide if it's happy or sad … your daddy wanting a professional photo. Maybe that's a generational thing, but there are precious few photos of my own father. I think he wanted his picture made, but was always the one taking pictures of everyone else.

I think I have around 4 shelf meters of photo & postcard albums, plus some additional boxes... Perhaps half of them "mine"; the rest inherited from my parents and ancestors... I know all to well what it's like to pick any one of them out and get stuck contemplating and end up just putting it back again!!!

I so love looking at the past. There are hardly any photos at all of all my family. and I so wish there were.

These old photos hold special memories for you no doubt,. Yes,I think of my Dad too, and wonder what he would say about all our new technology.
