Let Me Entertain ME

Before you read on, can you guess what we are covering today? Pun intended!
if you are as old as I am, the right left might look a little familiar.
😁😜😁

My cousin Bonnie posted a video on FB about making our own mask, Without Sewing? YAY!
By the time I was through, I had spent 2 hours on making masks to wear when I go out. If you don't know why I need a mask, you are in Big Trouble.
First I made a red mask out of a bandana, loved it because it covered The Chins.. But a little embarrassing for wearing in public.

I grabbed a white hankie and Voila! loved it.  I can now make one in 30 seconds. Any square will do, a friend said she was going to try large napkins.
Here is the LINK to the how to video.... I challenge you to show me what you make..  I used hair elastics but rubber bands or elastic will work.

THEY say Wear mask in public....

PLEASE DO NOT BUY MASKS... leave those for the front line people..... after you wear this, you can wash out in soapy water, dry by hanging, zap in microwave for 2 minutes AFTER removal of the ear handles.

You did good! I loved watching this, because I am going to try, and need all the help I can get!

You go girl! But, why the embarrassment? Consider it a colorful necessity. With your new know-how you can make a fashion statement. ...you did a great job with them.

Considering what I've seen some people wearing, your red bandanna should be the least bit emarrassed. There was a cutomer who came in the other day. He had a black mask on and a cowboy hat. I couldn't help giggle to myself because I thought he was a bandit from the wild west.

I have thought about wearing Rigers respirator mask just to get a reaction...the one he had to wear in doing some of the work when he made knives...some of the grinding or sanding. Picture something from outer space. I like the red bandana ones just fine.

Hi Sandra,

I made some masks for hubby and I, I think he will go to Walmart by himself today and wear the mask. No need to be embarrassed, everyone is wearing the mask now. I hope your day is great!

I like the bandana and took one when we went in the car yesterday to walk. (didn't need to wear it, only saw one person at a distance). I've sewed one for hubby and will make myself one today, just in case. I like your idea to make one without sewing! Everyone needs to have one at the ready!!! Hugs!

Well done MS...Oh I learned to iron on hankies. You know I love the red
I have made 4 masks out of scraps of fabric from my quilts.

I've been sewing masks for a couple weeks now for my essential worker daughter and the local Visiting Nurse Assoc. But I like the no sew ones best for the rest of us. Like you said convenient and easy maintenance.
A filter can be placed between the folds also if that makes a person more comfortable.

I thought about wearing my motorcycle/tornado helmet -- then realized its face shield only covers the TOP half of my face. I agree, the red bandana rocks! I'm off to Walgreens 20% Senior Day in a little bit for hair ties (or rubber bands) and will be wearing my black (zombie) scarf. I didn't tell you, last week when I wore it to Wal-Mart one of the church ladies walked right past without recognizing me!

I have always liked the look of a red bandana so that is my favorite also. My daughter-in-law dropped off a couple of masks her mother made for us. Those non sew masks would be great, especially for someone who doesn’t have a sewing machine. I could hand sew one I guess but was happy when this type popped up. My fingers are not as nimble as they used to be.

Go with the colorful mask! We need colorful, eye-catching virus-fighting apparel in this era of regimented activity.

I also say go for a colored mask!! I'm going to try my hand at crocheting a couple of masks with crazy colors and put linings in them.

I'll let you know how that goes :-)

Thanks for this. I made some yesterday, but didn't have the best material. Why I got rid of all the bandannas Errol left I now have no idea. But you reminded me that I have white napkins somewhere. Will check.

After I made mine I actually found a box of mask in the garage that I had packed up for the move. I buy them for when I am sawing on wood. The made ones are thicker and I think would keep things from getting through.

I like the red too. What I don't have is the elastic bands. I did find some old masks in the closet for some reason I bought them years ago - still good though.

Very interesting .Around here very few people are wearing masks.

I like the red one and think you should wear it. It's cheerful, and we can all use a lot more of that.

Love the zapping in microwave idea. I also saw someplace (I think it was on the CDC website), for an added barrier use a coffee filter (fold in half) in the center of the bandana before folding for the mask. Enjoy your day!
