Wearing of the GREEN in our backyard

Our backyard is celebrating the "wearing of the green" this week.
Our Elephant Ear is smiling in the sunshine. I dug out the Nikon 600 for these.
At one time we had these beauties outside the kitchen window, baby girl, our dog killed all of them. We found one small one and planted it and now it is about 4 feet tall.
It makes me happy.

Click here to see the parent plants that died in 2014...due to doggie digging and chasing lizards.

It makes me happy, too. It is GREEN and PERFECT! The perfect subject of a blog post.

We have colocasia here too. I helped a friend plant one (that we had scavenged from a skip) in her backyard. You had to see the backyard - a rubbish tip of its own, and building rubble dating back to the construction of the apartment building in the 1960s. No one had ever tried to tidy it up till the friend moved in. The colocasia jumped into life. There are so many baby plants we are contemplating splitting it up and turning the tiny enclosed space into a jungle. Amazing plant.

we love that plant... maybe it can grow here too or is it too cold and too wet?

Oh I like this. Seeing anything green makes me happy. I can't wait to see things start to turn green around here.

Glad to know y'all aren't planning to actually wear them. The title had me going for a minute. (*giggling*)

Love the shades of green and the plant is aptly named for sure.
I love all the textures showing in your shots.
Got some errands to run today I will write an update later.

A few of our neighbors have had food luck growing those elephant ears, but they don't last in the winter. Maybe Mom could try some in the front yard where we can't get at them:)
