Someone named John called Thursday Night and said
Is Monday alright to schedule your new roof?
Yes, that's great! (Not really, I have to give him thousands of dollars)
He then asked "Will it be ok to put the dumpster in your driveway? It will block the garage and
if you keep your cars in you will need to take them out. Can they bring it Friday?"
I gulp and sigh and say yes, Friday is fine. He said Nancy will call before they come.
I hang up and spin out of control, hamster wheel in brain is ON
We can go out the doors he says
What about the cars?
Leave the cars! let hem burn!
There so BIG, we will not have room for 2 cars, where will the roofers park/
I can take my Kia out and leave your truck.
If I put it under the tree, what if a limb falls on it? You know I picked up 3 fallen limbs in the last few days.
Leave it out by the street?
What if someone steals it, or hits it or punches holes in the tires?
I managed to sleep and woke up Friday and said, I want to go pick up RX and a few things at Publix, but what if they call while I am gone. Will you answer the phone?
I think about it and say I will just go tomorrow.
10 AM Nancy calls and says we want to drop off the dumpster.
I picture this
I say yes, it's fine, How Big Is This Doomster, um Dumpster?
6 feet wide 12 feet long
REALLY? that is Small! (I wonder will all the roof stuff fit?)
I tell her we need to get my car out because they are both in the garage. She says, just tell him where you want it, if you have a double car garage, it will fit in front of one side, and you can keep your car in the other.
I grab the measureing tape and run out the door, step back in and Bob says what are you doing?
MEASUREING TO SEE IF I CAN GET THE CAR OUT????
30 minutes after the call a BIG truck hauling a dumpster stops in front of the house
It's Here Bob Yells down the hall,
I open the door and a boy of 12 years old says I want to drop off and points at the dumpster.
I think is he driving that truck?
I step out and tell him where I want it, he says NO Problem, with a big smile, got back and climbs behind the wheel.
I come in the house and watch out he window giving Bob a blow-by-blow description of the child backing the dumpster in.
Bob Come watch him drive this truck,
Bob replies I drove that way when I was 16! Why would I want to watch him?
I say
He backed it in right where I told him in 30 seconds flat!
I was Shocked! I wish I could drive like that.
(I step out the door and he lifts his eyebrows as a question and holds up one thumb, I give him two thumbs up and the Baby Truck Driver, leaps in the Big Truck and is
Gone Baby Gone!
And he is only TWELVE! (Bos's surgeon was only 16 36)
Do you find that anyone under the age of 40 looks like a baby?
Did you get the point of the post???
The Roofers will be here MONDAY early!

Yes, EXACTLY!! It now seems that everyone we deal with is a child!! And people we have to take orders from, like doctors, are so much younger than us! It is hard being ordered about by someone less than half your age. I also notice how AGILE and STRONG they are, running, lifting, and bending. Was I ever able to do this stuff??? It seems that I admire and am stunned by people who can do the most simple physical things, like getting up without moaning or screaming...

Oh I say... that is one load of worrying going on there! Monday can't come soon enough... (And yeah, I just said to Mac1 the other day that the policemen we saw drive by didn't look old enough to be in charge of a uniform!) YAM xx
Everyone we deal with these days are still wet behind the ears!!
Now I'm sure the cogs in your brain are geared up like Fs. It just felt kind of comfortable (like a favorite t-shirt) reading your post today. xxx Mr T
Yes, everyone is looking younger and younger except me. We hired a new cashier and she was all excited because it was her birthday and she was 17. I thought she looked more like 10.
They all look so young...for sure! And I know you'll be happy to get your roof done. Does it do any good for me to say...don't worry? TRY not to worry! They'll do a great job!
Glad it worked out with the dumpster not blocking your car. Hope the whole roof job will go just as smoothly as well :)
Re your comment on brain rest. F spent at least 2/3 of her life to date thinking everyone was wired that way, but it seems that some people really do have the ability to 'veg out' and really didn't have thoughts, or were completely unaware in any conscious sense of thought process going on. F's ex husband reckoned he had two brain cells - one ran essential life support systems and the other managed the filing. Filing was dispensable and that brain cell would stand in on essential life support if the first one needed a break. Filing btw seemed to be the old-fashioned card index kind which occasionally got emptied on brain floor in a desperate search for stuff. It's amazing what would suddenly come to light at odd times when the mess was being cleaned up and random cards were inspected for refiling. That could produce a good laugh, or the answer to a question posed a week earlier. Fs brain-off is (strangely) creative problem solving (knitting patterns, sewing design, making stuff). I should force her to try monkeying around but we already know that tech causes tears, and I prefer a calm life these days. Xxx Mr T
Sandra bless your heart you are Queen of What Ifs!!
You thought of every worst scenario. I'm so sorry hopefully all of this will just be for 3 days
Hugs Cecilia
Hello,
It is a good thing Bob does not need to move his truck. I hope all goes well with the new roof. Take care, enjoy your weekend.
My twin! Better you consider every possibility and arrive at a Plan.
WHERE, oh where, is that 12 year-old when I have to park at UAB? Last year I nearly expired when they told me (after Tom's procedure) he wasn't allowed to back the truck out for me. I even offered to pay, but their employees aren't allowed.
Whoops ... I think your spam file swallowed my comment! This morning I discovered 23 comments there, dating back to last Fall.
I hope this goes GREAT for you. Yes EVERYONE looks like a child - lol. When did I grow so old?
Totally Awesome...
A new roof will be wonderful. That "Baby" did a terrific job and there are A++++'s all over the place because of him.
Praying there is no rain and the job can be finished ASAP.
Sue
I am impressed with the baby parking that dumpster! I have a hard time parking my own car! Loved your narrative, it was like I was there stressing right along with you. Hoping the rest goes along smoothly.
Just think of how good it will feel to have that job done.
OMG, you sound like me. I can feel your pain. I'm glad that it worked out so you could keep your car in the garage. How can we stop this constant over thinking???
I'm impressed by the kid's driving ability! Fingers crossed the weather is good for roof fixing. 😊❤️
You are so FUNNY!!
I wish you all the best with you new roof and the more than one 12-year olds who will show up to put it on.
I get what you mean about babies doing all these adult things! The technician that did Louis Dean's CT scan was 12! Weird!
Sandra, another terrific narrative! loved reading this. I’m amazed by the boy’s parking ability and I hope all goes smoothly with the roof.
Wow to be so young again eh? I would be surprised if. At any age under 15 one could legally drive so he just looked youthful but his skill level was super.
