cof·fee, Java, Joe

Do you think this post is about my love of coffee?

Well, it IT is and is Not about my LOVE of Coffee!
It's all about my loss of memory. In the past two weeks I have:

1. found my 2nd cup of coffee in the microwave when I opened it to cook my oatmeal.

I sat the oatmeal in the oven, did not SEE the cup of coffee, pushed 2 minutes and nothing happened.,
It seems I opened the door part way through the 30 second coffee heat up, closed it and never came back, which left it not working and it would not come on until cleared.
Imagine the Mess if the coffee and oatmeal both cooked for 2 minutes causing the coffee to boil over.

2.  I found my 3rd cup of coffee unfinished sitting by my chair in the living room when I sat down to watch the news 2 hours later.

3.  Bob found my last cup of coffee in microwave at 5 PM when warming something.

4.  A repeat of A. when I sat Bob's spaghetti in next to a cup of coffee at lunch time

5. last but not least, last night I went to make the coffee for the next day and the pot still had two cups of coffee in it. This time I never knew I did not drink it until I was pouring it down the sink to make more coffee to forget.
This happened over a 2-week period.
This means:
A. Dementia
B. I am crazy
C. I don't love coffee.
D. I do love coffee but can't remember I love coffee.

The good news is, so far, I have not put a metal spoon in the microwave. YET.

Hmmm,it is a mystery why most of your memory problems center around coffee. Maybe your subconcious is telling you to drink less. For some strange reason? Very mysterious...But I love you and your coffe cartoons!

I think we all have this short term memory loss at times. (We keep our peanut butter in fridge for keeping bugs out of jar. I hate trying to spread cold peanut butter on bread, so I got this "brilliant" idea to warm it up in the microwave). Jar had remnants of foil from its seal around the rim...this equaled up to 4th of July fireworks in the nuke!

Hi Sandra, You are not alone! I do this quite frequently. I make tea or coffee, forget to drink it,or only take a few sips, before I discover it's gone cold, so put it in microwave to heat up, only to find it later when I start to heat something else. So far these memory lapses seem to be about drinks, but I once did this with soup, and only found it the next day. Other than this my memory seems to be OK, so I don't worry about it. My daughter says it happens to her, and she is less than half my age. It happens!!

I think you NEED less coffee than you think! ;) I don't drink coffee but I do the same kind of thing with tea. I don't use the microwave for that though, but boil water in a kettle. But I sometimes pour the water into the cup and leave the tea to draw but get distracted by something in between and forget I wanted the tea (and then find it too strong and maybe even cold) When cooking/ heating something in the microwave (or on the stove) I have a "policy" to stay in the kitchen while I'm doing that. Perhaps that might work for you? ;-)

It could be that you just have too many other things rolling around in your brain. I did this the other day. I put coffee in the microwave and discovered it several hours later when I went to get something out of the kitchen.

I am inclined to agree that perhaps the signal is that you may want the coffee but don't need it - and that distraction is all too easy! YAM xx

Hello,
I love my coffee, it stays close by me until I am done.
I agree with YAM, it is easy to get distracted.
I have memory lapses about other things, the worse is leaving the burner on after I am done cooking. Luckily, no fires and the burner is turned off.
Take care, have a great day!

A fun post, Sandra, and glad you only forgot about the coffee and not something more serious. Good point about not putting the metal spoon in the microwave😀

I think we get too many irons in the fire so to speak. And we can't keep up with so much. So far I don't forget to drink my coffee though...I love coffee!

I used to do the same thing with my half-full water bottles! (Not that I switched to an adult sippy-cup that doesn't happen.)
Both Tom and I are guilty of leaving our coffee cups in the microwave and forgetting about them. I had to laugh out loud about the oatmeal. Thank goodness it didn't explode all over the insides. (Ask me how I know ....)

MS no worries I know for a fact your mind is 100% present it just has so many ideas running around in it things like coffee and oatmeal are forgotten

I think that because you misplaced all those cups of coffee, you probably thought you had at least one cup, but maybe you hadn't had ANY! So all is well, you just didn't have your coffee.

I have done this a BUNCH! I think it just means you are doing too many things at the same time.

At least that's what I tell myself! LOL

Sandra - don't even put that out there.
I think you are just extremely pre-occupied.
Maybe you don't need as much coffee to jolt you!
I feel that about the weather right now - I don't really register what it is these days.

Coffee Rule #1 Drink the first cup to avoid getting Squirrel Brain
Hope that helps. lol

I agree with Ann... we all have to much on our minds to stay focused.
Maybe the second cup is necessary for brains like ours. lol

I think that with the world the way it is today we all have other things on our minds. Hopefully this will pass and thankfully nothing happened. I love the graphics you made.

Well Sandra, It was your birthday and you can have a lazy brain once in a while.
Just don't put the metal spoon in there..not good...
Relax and take a deep breath and move on.
I know that's easier said than done.
hugs, friend

Sounds petty normal to me. Glad nothing serious has happened. 😊

We do that here, too! The last time we came home from the ranch, I found my forgotten cup of coffee on the table and it was disgusting!!! It had been there for a long time!
Today I set out two big containers to take to the outside deep freezer....and found them 3 hours later when I came home from an afternoon with Brenda!

This happens to me all the time! I am so bad about it that on the odd occasion where we go out to breakfast I have to ask for my coffee in a to go cup as I never finish it, and then still manage to randomly leave it around the house.

I once put some food in the microwave wrapped up in aluminum foil. Oye!!! Never did that again but as I am often told, never say never.
Does that make you feel better?
