Powder Puff Tree-Christmas Day 2024

post created for Christmas day and left in drafts due to Beau and Mama very ill.

Below shows how fast the thing grows when cut back. It will grow into a tree if left alone.

On March 23, Bob cut the 10 foot tall powderpuff bush top photo above, to the size you see in bottom photo. It has to be cut back each year or it would cover the whole back yard.

this is the Top of it after cutting on the day we took it down March 23

Top 20 days later, April 10
Fast growing isn't it.

I took these 2 photos Jan 3rd, 2025, to show it will cover the ugly fence soon. The dirt you see above has had no water since Hurricane Milton and below is the other side that I water with hose 3 times a week. Just water the dirt and look what is growing.
We have had 1 slight shower that could not be measured, since Milton slammed us
Waiting for rain to assist in making the jungle grow

I hope you get some rain to speed the process! That would help so much. But you are getting some beauty again. 😊

Your recovery from the hurricanes is coming along really well.I suspect that many are struggling to rebuild their lives - and some never will.

It's a beautiful tree, but I understand it takes some work to keep it the right size!!

All I can say is I hope YOU recover as fast as the Powderpuff! What an incredible plant! We do hope that you are all doing better, you are all (Mom, Dad and beau) in our purrayers and we send you strength. We are also wishing you a year full of laughter, love, and unforgettable memories and share as much love as you can today! Marvelous Marv and Mom Barb

Gosh! Like time-lapse photography, only better. Last year was the first summer Tom didn't want me hiring the lawn/tree men and now both the crepe myrtles and rose 'tree' are out of control; like Jack's beanstalk.

That was amazing and so beautiful! It must be a desert plant!

It is truly amazing how fast that thing grows. It is going to be an awesome cover for the fence gate.
I do hope the rain will continue so things get the drinks they need to grow.
Hope you are feeling better too.
Dave's still coughing but I think I am well.
Take care
Sue

Hi Sandra :) I hope you have completely recovered, but I must say your Powderpuff bush recovers quickly after a heavy pruning. It is exceptionally beautiful when in flower. I also hope you get some rain now to help with the clean up. I smiled at your comment about the Greenfinch, you are absolutely right Sandra they are yellow.:)

My parents had a couple of Powderpuff's growing on the land in Titusville, along with all the Orange trees and other citrus. They are lovely.
I hope you and Beau are completely recovered now and feeling super.
Blessings. ✨

As I hate mowing grass I begin to think your dirt vs wet season green flush is actually a good thing.

I sure hope you and Mama are back to normal by now. What a beautiful looking powder puff tree. I can't imagine all the work you must have done to get it all looking so neat and tidy after those two hurricanes.

As fast as it grows, it can be good or it can be bad...mostly good from my point of view cause I LOVE those blooms.
