The Plumber Cometh, NEW TIP FOR YOU

I can hear you wondering what Dawn and a bottle and two glasses has to do with the plumber we called on Sunday at 3 pm.

I was Angry, that I had to wait for 2 nights, a total of 30 hours without a potty, for the plumber we have supported for YEARS come.

Bonnie, Shari, Me my 1st cousins

I called my cousin Bonnie, to ask if we have a plumber in our many cousins because I needed one.

She said we do not! She also said the one she uses, would probably not be able to come until Tuesday.

She said, I can give you a tip that helped me when this happened to us...

Pour 1 cup of Dawn, in the commode (toilet/loo) pour a gallon of Almost to boiling and let it soak, it will trickle down and disappear allowing you to flush.

I did it to both and it worked. we still needed the plumber because none of the sinks/shower were draining. Good news is it cleared both commodes and we and we did get a few flushes as needed.

Which meant the drama of the bucket in the outhouse (garage) was only used once by ME>

The glasses are here because I went into cleaning frenzy Because the Plummer Is coming. Or Not! Bob says, he's just a PLUMBER, his job is dealing with S*** and he will not give a S****

I kept cleaning. While rinsing the glass, I saw the droplets, I could not help myself. Now, I need to tell you why I have two small glasses, plastic not glass. See the tall bottle of water? Each morning, I fill it, and all day I pour it into the glass, and by 5 pm the water is Gone, and I know I am hydrated. Old people fall down if they get Dehydrated.

I can't help it, when I type what I thought would be short post it just keeps going and going. This means I have to share what Bonnie said that helped put my Drama in perspective...

We had not chatted for a while, and I asked how things were going.  The short story is.

Bonnie had to have open chest surgery to remove a goiter that did not grow in her throat but down into her chest to wrap around her organs. They had to do the same surgery as heart but removing goiter from her organs. then she got the flu which messed with the wires and staples in her chest because of coughing so hard. She said she could top that because her daughter with 5 children, went in hospital twice with kidney stones, and a few hours before I called Bonnie, she was prepped and ready with surgeon to blast a stuck stone to pieces and the man who brings the blaster machine, did not how up and they had to re-schedule and start over.   Bonnie text me 15 minutes later and said the man that did not show up was found dead in his home......

SEE WHAT I MEAN ABOUT PERSPECTIVE? Make the Plumber Drama look ALMOST minor.

PS: if you are still reading, did you know a goiter can grow down into our organs? I did not. Just Google search Substernal Goiter ... OMW! now i have to watch my thyroid gland for swelling.

Yow!! My head is spinning. It is like a post from Stephen Kind. Invasive goiters and a body in the house. Yes, comparatively you weren't so bad off after all.

oh that is horrible... and so scary... sometimes life is harder than any book or movie..

OMG, I can't imagine waiting on surgery like that and finding out the person you were waiting on was dead. That sounds awful about the goiter as well. Then to have the flu on top of everything else. Yep, kind of makes the plumber drama not seem so bad.

Great tip to know, using the dawn and hot water.
I am sorry to hear about Bonnie's health problem, I hope she is recovering now. I tell hubby we always have to look on the bright side, things could always be worse. Take care, have a great day.

Oh my! What an unusual and terrible story! First, thank you for the tip about the Dawn and Hot water trick. I will try to remember that if I ever need it again. Next, No, I did not know that a goiter could grow down into your organs like that. Oh my goodness! And then to get a bad coughing bug on top of that! Yikes! Praying for Bonnie. And then her poor daughter with the kidney stones...I've had one when I was 7 months pregnant and they thought they would have to take the baby to get out the stone, but thankfully the stone decided to deliver itself first and the baby stayed safe inside for another month, but still came 3 weeks early, but healthy. But I thought I was in labor when I had that stone, that's how bad it was! But, then, in your family's story, to find that poor man dead in his house! Oh My! Yes, it does help to put our troubles in perspective...there's so much sorrow and trouble going on in the world around us. I give thanks for my "light troubles" compared to theirs. I'm glad your toilet and sinks and tub are all cleaned out and happy now!! At least there's some good news here!

Sandra, thank you and cousin Bonnie for the toilet tip, which could come in helpful one day (if I remember it). Good that you and Bonnie talked to catch up, but not so good new on her and her daughter’s health issues, downright scary, especially the man found dead in his home, yikes!

thank you for the tips using the dawn soap and the hot water....Never know when this will be needed. Those kidney stones are nothing to play around with...My Sam has had to have surgery two different times to remove kidney stones. I have seen him in excruciating pain with the things..What a horrible thing for the man. I did not know that a goiter could grow down and into the organs...Happy Thursday to you...

Holy cow or I mean holy goiter. No, I did not know that. Didn't she feel it kind of growing? And yes, that man's death did change perception. Man, I am going to keep that formula for the toilet. lol
Have you got your bill yet? I sure hope you have a good day.

Hi Sandra :) Thank you to both you and your cousin Bonny for the tip on how to unclog a toilet. Although I have never heard of Dawn before, there must be similar products that will do the trick. It certainly puts things in perspective when you hear of other peoples problems, painful serious health issues and even death, however I'm glad that you are now sorted and if it ever happens again, you know what to do.I did not know that a goiter could grow down into your other organs, that is scary. I hope she and her daughter are doing well now.
All the best

WOW!!!!! I'd no idea about an invasive goiter like that. Back in my 20's I had to have a goiter surgically removed together with part of my thyroid. The doc said it was growing so swiftly -- yet backwards, wrapping itself around my vocal chords, it could have killed me before I knew what was happening. 50 years later, until I notice the scar, I hardly think about that.
You (and Bonnie) are so right. Perspective IS everything.

Thanks for the tip about Dawn and toilets. Now I wonder if that would work with septic. Off to Google!

Dawn has so many excellent uses. I was recently informed you can use about a teaspoon of Dawn mixed about about 8 cups of water to wash your veggies and fruit. My hair dresser recently had Listeria (got it from baby carrots). She now washes all her veggies and fruit in that mixture or with white vinegar. As the old folks used to say there is always someone in worse shape or with bigger problems

Oh my word, your poor cousin Bonnie, and her daughter and the man who passed away. Problems diminish when compared to what others are going through. However, I am glad you got your plumbing taken care of. Great tip on the Dawn. That washing up liquid is great for so many things.

Good grief...the saga sure has so many twists and turns. I like that simple suggestion for the clog. Dawn is a wonder soap for sure.
Sorry about Bonnie's problem with the goiter. I never heard of such a thing and her poor daughter and the horrible kidney stones and the man passing away.
Its like a bad Soap Opera..you write it so well.

I've had to type this 3 times. I like the suggestion with using the Dawn in the toilet. Good for you drinking the water. How many cups is that? So sorry about Bonnies surgery and then getting the flu. Also the news on her daughter and the man being found dead in his home. No, I didn't know that about a goiter.
