The Plumber Cometh or NOT part 2

The Plumbing Repair Watch Party started at 8:40 left  at 10:05.
In the first hour they went on the roof and rotor-rooted the vent pipe, which fixed the bathroom sinks and both commodes. The Kitchen had another vent, and he worked on that for 50 minutes. the pipe was closed up, he could not get the large rooter wire down, had to use the small. He said its draining, but sometimes it will stop.

He said ,I gave you a hole the size of my thumb. be mindful of what goes down the sink, nothing down the sink but water and it will last, I said maybe we can baby it until we die, we are 80 and 88 . He said yes, you should be able to baby it that long.
The good news is I have been babying it for a year, because those pipes were put in back in 1972.
In Florida, we have root problems, everything grows year round. in 36 years in this house we have had to have rotor-rooter used on roots, about 7 times.
We have no idea what this cost because they just leave and the office bills us. Takes about a week to get a bill or longer. I usually wait a few days and drive there, its only 10 minute drive, and pay with my card...

Beau has asked to say something....

I was Pawfect! I laid on the floor and watched them run in and out the front door and down the hall about 87 times, and in the kitchen another 87 times. You can see  proof in the first photo. I also say with Daddy and tried to figure out why there was a huge truck in the driveway through our window on the world
to be continued in Part 3

My dad would jokingly tell me I should marry a Doctor. Throughout the years, I realized I should have married a plumber. (Or a Veterinarian)

It's good you're back to normal. I know you'll baby everything. I'm just glad you're not in the garage bathroom anymore.

Have a fabulous day, my friend. Scritches to handsome Beau. ♥

Thank you so much for this update!!! I think it was a couple years ago I witnessed the plumber going up on the roof and couldn't for the life of me figure 'why.' Tom said they came back with a man-size fist of hair that, judging from its size, had to have been accumulating before us. Nevertheless, I've turned into a Nazi about our kitchen drains; when I wash my hair I put not one, but two mesh strainers down -- with 1/3 paper towels to hold them in place.

I am thrilled they came. I am confused if you are happy or not. If you are going to do further work or baby it a few years. You do seem happy there so I am happy for you.

Thankful for you that they were able to get this fixed for you...Hoping that the kitchen semi-fix will work a very long time for you. Sounds like this could be a very costly repair if it doesn't last. fingers crossed that it does. The plumbers in our area are very expensive...$140.00 just to come out...not including the fix. Of course, if I were a plumber, my prices would mostly likely be that much as well...that is a sometimes hard and dirty job.

I'm so glad they came and you are back in business. I think babying it is a good plan, because that repair sounds bad!
Good for Beau - such a good dog!

I'm so glad you have been Roto Rootered and things are doing what they are suppose to do...
Keep babying the sink drain so you don't have to go into destruction mode.
Good for you Beau keeping an eye on things.
Happy Day for all of YOU ...

So glad you have things draining again. I would have had a panic attack if they had told me I had to rip out my kitchen floor and cabinets.

I'm still confused about the vents on the roof being the issue, and what does the kitchen cabinets have to do with it all? I thought it was the toilet that was clogged? Well, shows you how much I know! Maybe I should be glad we live in a manufactured home and all our plumbing pipes are actually above ground until they reach the septic tank, and even that is above ground. So hopefully we will never have that problem. Wow! I learned something new here today. Good Boy, Beau! You deserve an extra treat today for sure!!!

Thumb diameter is not a big drain. We had 3 inch drains in Greece and despite the TP in a bucket beside the toilet stuff and regular doses of drain cleaner it was not enough to avoid occasional problems (but we were in an apartment block - another 3 above us and 2 below). Roots in drains I know about. Neighbours hedge invaded our drains in UK. I was constantly clearing drains until he moved out and we cut down the overgrown hedge. I hope you can keep things running.

Glad you got all that more or less sorted out. We have tree root problems in our area too. People have to pay thousands of dollars to have the pipes coming from the street into the house dug up and repaired. We are always hoping it doesn't happen to us.

I am glad you got the problem mostly resolved and things are working again. I hope the bill isn't too bad.
