Mama and Beau April 6, 2025 |
I am thankful I get crust from toast from daddy's breakfast
and that he sits with me on the sofa and sometimes I sleep on his lap.
We are not thankful that the Gabapentin made his memory worse and he has to use this to walk now, 11 days on it and he got much worse. Mama stopped the drug.
I am thankful he can kinda sorta walk with this THING that I am not thankful for.

Good grief!! Sad that some drugs make one thing better while they make something else worse. What else can go wrong?
Beau I'm sorry to read that Daddy isn't so good and medical intervention has only made stuff worse. Those frames are called a 'p' in Greece because they look like their letter p. (I can't change alphabets on this keyboard so you just have to trust me on that.)
Hello,
Love the photos of Beau with Mama and Daddy.
It is sad the medicine has such bad side effects.
Take care, wishing you all a good day!
Good morning Beau, I send you virtual hugs and I know you are thankful for all the love shown by Mama and Daddy. I like the photo of you with Mama. It is a great shame that Gabapentin didn't suit Daddy and made his memory worse. This medication doesn't suit everyone, but I have been taking it for about 25 yrs and it's the only neuropathic medication that has helped me cope with Sciatic pain. My memory is not great but it hasn't worsened since I started taking Gabapentin. I am grateful that it works for me, and hope there is another drug that will help Bob.

Aw, super Ussie of you and mum... and so sorry that daddy Bob is not gaining the benefits of Gaba with only the negatives. As one who knows how a walker can be super helpful, I hope that he too understands and uses it properly. Great big ether hugs and wags to you darling Beau, YAM-aunty xxx
Love the pictures of you, Beau, with your Mama, and also of you on the sofa with your Daddy. I am sorry he isn't doing well with the medicine, and I hope they can find something else to help him. His breakfast sure looks yummy! How nice of Mama to cook it for him. I know that walker thing is not very pretty to look at, but hopefully it helps your Daddy to be able to walk about the house safely. My Daddy used to say to me, "Oh Pammy, don't get old!" And I'd ask him back, "Well, Daddy, what's my alternative?" And he'd think about it, and then say, "Oh! I see what you mean!". Getting old isn't for sissies, that's for sure. I hope you and your family have a lovely day today. Thank you for writing to us, Beau! My kitties, Sunshine and Blackie Sue, send you their love. Meow Meow!
You're a lucky boy, Beau, to live with such nice people. I hope the doctors can find an alternative to the Gabapentin for your daddy.
Too bad that the medicine made things worse for your dad. Hopefully they can find something else that will work better.
Awww - Beau, you are a good boy!
I'm so sorry to hear the gabapentin made things worse. I had high hopes for it!
Oh Beau, your perspective is always heartwarming -- even when the news isn't so great. You do a really great job of narrating, like what we used to call a "cub reporter."
Big hugs.
You do have lots to be thankful for, Beau. Sorry to hear the Gabapentin isn't working for Bob though.
Yeah, gab is a funny one. Sorry it didn't work.
Those are some good thankfuls sweet Beau but we're sad that is happening to your Papa too. Hugs from all of us. Thanks for joining Angel Brian's Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
LOVE the photos of you and your mama, Beau! We're sorry about the Gabapentin and the walking and hope that improvement will come. That breakfast looks yummy, by the way!
Woofs,
Ollie
Oh Beau, you are such a love!
Hi Beau that is a tasty looking breakfast.
I am so very very sorry about Daddy's mobility.
Sending lots of prayers to all
Cecilia
After reading your post about how the drug made it hard for Bob to walk, Sandra, I thought "and this is why" some people put off seeking medical help. Sometimes, drugs can worsen a situation as evidenced by TV ads listing all the negative possible side effects. Thanks too for your comment on my blog post today. I sent you a separate email as I agree that over-use of the elliptical unit may be the culprit.
Goodness...I did not know that this drug could do this. I am so cautious about taking meds because they can cause other things. Hoping this all gets out of Bob's system and things improve greatly..Happy Thursday Beau. You have a very good life..
Sorry to learn that the medicine turned out to have that side-effect. Hope the walker-frame is somewhat helpful even if no doubt you all wish it wasn't needed!
We are also sorry that the meds aren't working for your Dad, Beau. We love seeing you sleeping with him on the couch!
xoxo,
Rosy & Sunny
So sorry that that medicine is having the opposite effect on Bob. Praying it will get completely out of his system and that he will improve his mobility.
(((hugs))) all around today
Sue
A reaction to meds is more common that one thinks. I had a reaction to an ozempik product and it made me very sick. sorry that your husband is suffering so much. Having problems with balance has forced me to go from cane to walker. Lots of pride has been lost.
Yes, Mama and Daddy love you so much. I am really sorry that the medicine did not help and that he has to use the walker now. My heart hurts for all of you. ((HUGS)) You are all in my prayers.
I'm sorry about the nasty side effects, and that the medicine didn't even help the pain. I hope they find something that works.
I have so many friends on that drug - I didn't know it made your memory worse. I tell you what - life is hard.
We are so sorry that your Dad didn't do well with the gabapentin. But the walker is a good ting so he doesn't risk a fall. Mom doesn't need that to happen either.

Oh, no, that's terrible that the meds have had that side effect! You've got a smart Mama to recognize what was happening and why. Paws and palms together for your Dad, Beau. XOX Xena, Lucy and Chia
