Dan's List May 25, 2025

Dan and Michele came to visit and for Dan to do a Mom's List of things we cannot do ourselves. I took this photo of them In the driveway

and having forgotten his long arms would take a 3 selfies, I added a photo of me that I took in the back yard that day and ended up with this. I mean who wants a photo of mom with NO ARMS.

The main "Honey do" on the list was grab bars in both bathrooms. Done and Done and done well...

2 grab bars, and a 3rd you can't see. Yes, we know the contraption that I put together all by myself, is supposed to surround the toilet, for him, it works best where you see it. I did have to spend an hour of frantically looking for the suction thingies that came with it if needed. I finally went to bed without finding them and with a fresh brain did find them the next day. No photo of them, but you can special order one. he he he

The bathroom before 4 new light bulbs
and the AFTER Daylight Bulbs that show every speck of what I missed cleaning with the old bulbs.
Dan held the Really Dusty light bulbs up and said Mom, these are really OLD they don't even make these anymore. Ha Ha so are we and the house was my answer.
I can't dust them because I can't reach them and Bob did it for 38 years but now he can't reach them either. He also said the same thing about the kitchen flourscent lights he was supposed to change out, but I bought the wrong size bulbs.
He said I can replace the fixtures for you and the bulbs will not burn out.
(I think what he meant is we are so old, they will out live us) he he he

We also got a grab bar outside, by the pool filter, they are called "modifications for seniors" when you search for them. Bob, Beau and I were totally exhausted from a whole day of Dan Working. Ha Ha. We went to bed at 7:30 and slept straight 8 hours.

Its nice to have the list completed by even nicer to have had a day of laughter with my son and his wife...

Zoe and Bandit, were waiting for them to come home, along with another dog, 2 inside cats and 10 outside ferals, also, racoons and possums who steal the ferals food.

Hello
It is wonderful that Dan and his wife came over to help your list of things needed to be done. I am glad to hear they are done and done well. I would like one of those grab bars in on my shower wall. I like the photos of you, Dan Michelle and Dan's furbabies. Take care, hope you have a great day!

It’s great that Dan and Michelle came over to help. It’s not only the work that was accomplished that’s important, it’s the fact of having other voices in the house and a friendly face to share life’s burdens with. I hope they visit often. All the best from Ontario where spring finally seems to have decided to visit for a while! David

This was a joy to read! Nothing beats that family support and shared time. Or being able to see one's toes in the bathroom! YAM xx

Go Dan!!! What a wonderful job he did, we are so happy you got to spend some quality time with him and his wife while he was fixing things up for you!

Hooray for Dan and Michelle! Getting those things done has to be a relief for you, and as you said, spending time together is the best.

Great picture!
My best take-away is hearing you slept a full 8 hours!
I so wish we knew a Dan nearby. I'd hate to see what he'd say about my 5 hairspray encrusted light bulbs in the bath. Now I'm really curious about the kitchen fluorescent fixture Dan has in mind. I'll definitely be checking out "modifications for seniors." I'm so glad you're getting help -- with laughter thrown in for good measure!

How wonderful to get the help you needed. You need to have that available to you and often. You made me smile.

I linked this post to Happy Tuesday. This is a most happy post.

Have a fabulous day and week, Sandra. Big hug to you and lots of scritches to Beau. Prayers for Bob. ♥

This post warmly shows a day filled with family, care, and humor. Dan’s help installing grab bars highlights the importance of small home changes for safety. The playful selfies and jokes about old bulbs add charm and lightness.

Mentioning the pets and wildlife creates a cozy, lively atmosphere. Overall, it beautifully balances aging challenges with laughter and togetherness, offering a touching and relatable glimpse into family support and everyday life.

Greetings from Indonesia
Nice to meet you

So glad to know you were able to get help from Dan fixing some things that needed doing. I have a sturdy horisontal bar next to my shower that was probably originally put up (before my time) to hang bath towels on - and I use it for that as well - but it's also perfect for me to hold on to when stepping out of the shower...

They look great. That heart is so sweet. That's great about the grab bars. Wow, what a difference in the light. Glad he is going to do the kitchen too. I am so glad that they came and did these things for you. A wonderful blessing for sure. You take care and you, Bob and Beau are always in my prayers.

Those are great photos and clever you for adding yourself in them. What a sweet son you have to come over and do all those things you needed doing. Laughter is the best medicine, I'm glad you got a lot of it when he visited.

8 hours of sleep for both of you!!! Yay. that's so wonderful.
I am so thankful that Dan and Michelle could come and lighten the load for you. Our son Mark installed grab bars in the bathroom when Dave's leg was broken. So grateful and they really give safety to these old bones for sure.
New lights and lots of giggles and laughter made a perfect day.
Continued prayers and hugs to you, Bob and Beau.

I am sure the kids know how excited you were to get help! Another gift from God. I am thankful too. We need our son to come down and help a day too - but that is another matter. I am just glad they helped you out!

I'm so late commenting because we had unexpected company the first part of the day. We have grab bars all around the inside of the shower, maybe 6? They are wonderful and I'm so glad you have them now. They do sell bulbs that are supposed to last a lifetime. What else is left and when are they coming back?

Nice to see the three of you! And how sweet of your Som to help with the things that needed doing.
We had grab bsars installed in our bath years ago, for when my mom would come to see us, and she needed them...now Greg needs them even more than she did.
Tell Beau that contraptions in the home are far better than no Bob in the home...we have contraptions ready to put in to action here, if need be...so far stubborn Greg refuses to even consider using them...though I think hhe really needs to be using a cane at least.

I enjoyed seeing your art works and copy cats! So glad you are finding some 'me time'.

Keeping you close in my thoughts and prayers.

Your son is amazing and I am so happy y'all had a great visit! Is Dan like you in personality? I already love him and his wife just by looking at their picture.

You cracked me up with the part of being tired after Dan did the chores. And then you wrote, HaHa. You're funny and you cracked me up with that.

Love this! So glad the grab bars are up. My son is currently working on painting the trim on the new shed we got a few weeks ago. It's been too rainy and wet and he's been staying here waiting...waiting...
Give Bea a kiss from me.
