Another Bob Update

Bob after the transport company brought him home wearing his walking boot whichever he received July 28th. Transport used their wheelchair, and we beat the rental hospital bed by 3 hours, and transport placed him on the sofa, and he was happy to lay down and take an instant nap after 3 hours sitting on his bedsore wound. We used Medical Purpose transport to go to Coastal Orhto Pecano, for boot and they also brought us home. Worth every penny of the 80 dollars, it cost to transport a wheelchair, and come back for us. We will use them again on August 25th for XRAY of cracked ankle bone, and to hopefully remove that boot. It is hard to walk with and he can't because he has no strong leg.

After 4 days in hospital, and 3 weeks in Rehab Home, Bob came home at 10:30, August 5, which was 22nd day in the torture chamber of the Rehabilitation Home, and before that he was 4 days in hospital with broken ankle.

He is home and cannot walk even with a walker. He can sit up, swing feet to floor and do excercises with PT and OT. No Walking yet.

We have Home Health that comes, Wound nurse, for bed sores and his poor scalded bottom from being in the nightmare of the skilled nursing facility that caused the sore and left him each night for hours in urine and feces.

We have a Nurse as needed or 3 times a week, for medical things, our  would nurse just left and this is Sunday. Impressive. She was shocked at the difference of the wound now and on the 5th when they took a photo of it. She said I am doing fantastic, I said its killing me, and she laughed and said, but look at the improvement. She said because it looked so bad, they sent me to check on it on Sunday. WOW

We will have a phlebotomist come and check his blood thinner levels every Tuesday, PT and OT therapist and 3 nurses... for as long as we need them. Yet they don't pay for the bed rental or the other devices, or transportation to doctor visits.

Bob's primary doctor, ONLY DOES VIDEO Calls with patinets who OWN iPhones and can do FaceTime. We do not, so either he doesn't go, or i cough up 80 dollars..

This is much like taking care of a baby, 24/7 He is bed bound here, and much better off than the treatment of leaving him in feces and urine and not answering the call button at night. He is no longer Ambulatory, and we are in the process of starting the infusions for CDIP infusions and they stopped while not in home.

this is our call button the first 2 nights, trust me I could hear him beat on the bottom of the pot.

and this is the Ingenious MS call button that works like a charm. I put the spoon in a tin that contained tea bags.

The sofa was moved to the window to leave room for the electric bed.

Wheelchair dining cart, easy to move.

above bed replaced the love seat below, which was Beaus Place to Sleep. They moved it in front of the window and put the chair that I watched out the window in the bedroom. Beau has not touched the loveseat since. I paid 50 dollars to get the furniture moved around the night before we came home. I called Bills Discount Furniture and asked if they had anyone that would come move the furniture, the delivery guy came after he got off work and moved it for 50 dollars.

Life goes on, the dog begs for food, the man eats off the bedside table also known as the people mover wheelchair. the mama works and works and cry's while she does it, but she gets it done.
Amazon loves me because I have spent hundreds of dollars turning the living room into a hospital room.

I even have an Adult Changing Table full of wipes and diapers and salves and lotions and sprays and waste basket to go in the potty that use to belong to my beloved, Jackie who dies on Valentines Day. Thank you, Richard, for donating it and its perfect.

No idea at all when i will be back, except for updates of changes, for my records and for those of you who have been so kind to me while this tornado turns our world upside down.
love you all and miss you all.

Thank you for the update. I know how hard this is. Very tiring and no time for anything but Bob and Beau. Bless you and I pray that things will get easier for you.

Have a fabulous day and week. Big healing hugs all around. ♥

We miss you even more because we do not have all this hard work to keep us busy. I cannot believe that Bob is actually WAVING at the camera!!!! He must have been overjoyed to be home. You are super organized and in overdrive with planning. And this skill is sure where you need it the most. I was SO glad to see this update and the photos!!! Sending lots of love.

It’s so good to see your update. I’m sure just being home will make for more comfort for Bob which aids in his recovery. I’m sure it is very hard work on you but at least you’re home with Bob and Beau is no longer alone at home for those hours you were at the hospital. Big big hugs to you and I’m praying for your strength and health as you care for your husband. God bless you.

Sandra - just thinking about you last night and was going to email you a funny poem - I'll do it anyway. Meanwhile great news that you guys are all at home together. Beau will get over moved furniture. As for iphone Dr consultations - can you use your ipad (will it take a simcard? Move the sim from your phone.) I know nothing about facetime but you are a tech genius I'm sure you could work it out in no time. (or borrow an old iphone off someone - you wouldn't need the latest whizzbang version). I was horrified that the nursing home encouraged bedsores to proliferate like that. We are so much more advanced these days - it is all so avoidable.

Hello Sandra,
I am happy for the update. My hubby got sore from 8 days in the hospital. I can only imagine how Bob felt with the bed sores.
It does sound like you are doing a good job taking care of him.
I know how some of it feels, hubby is not quite as bad as Bob. Hubby can walk, which is a blessing! Sending prayers for you, Bob and Beau. Take care and stay strong.

We were just thinking this afternoon about when we might see another update, and voila!!! here it is. We are glad Bob is home where we know his care is 10,000% better, but we are sorry so much is on you. The help is nice, but it is still up to you to get it all organized and done. Bob is very fortunate to have someone who loves him so much.j God bless.

It just breaks my soul to read this - yet I am so glad you take the time to let us know what is going on and that you are still alive. I can't believe all that you have had to do.
I just want to you know I think about and pray for you every day.
