Can You Hear Me 😱😱😱ing Part 2

Photo taken 11/04/2025First things first, Beau is doing well. Just Old Age stuff. He still steals my seat every time I get up. He says to tell you Baby its cold outside. Brr temps each morning, and Mama wears her orange hoodie. 58 to 61 lows brrrr

The last update on Bob, was  on October 28, 2025 Can You Hear Me 😱😱😱ing . I said I would not post. Sorry I have not been around to your blogs, the only reason the Halloween post hit is because I put it on auto post 2 weeks early, before I started 😱😱😱.

We saw a dermatologist on 10/30, she said, extreme reaction to a drug, she gave injection in his hip, prednisone by mouth, cream to put on rash and antihistamine to take by mouth.

Today is 11/05/2025 and the rash is still with us, but much better than it was, under control but not gone.

She took a biopsy of the large bump of hive/rash, a small cookie cutter on end of stick that took a plug of skin, flesh and hive and another biopsy that I pointed out a spot that looked suspicious. she said you may be right and took that to send off. He has had 5 melanomas and 4 other skin cancers removed in that office so she had access to records.

He goes back November 13, to get 2 stitches out of the plug of rash she took, and for results.

We are doing OK, better than we were before. We bought the bed we rented, its now living in the living room for now. He still can't walk, but a few steps with the walker.

we have PT come in once a week and RN once a week,

The infusions are canceled, the PA said they are checking into clinical trials with new meds. Most likely will not do that. He sees the Neurologist Dec 18th, the PA said blood work shows he does not have the Alzheimer Markers in his blood, the bad one he called it, and we await further information.

The best news of ALL is the hallucinations, loss of focus and sleeping around the clock, talking to people in his sleep, have stopped completely.

I had stopped Gabapentin because they made all this worse, really crazy hallucinations, and they got better with in a couple of days.

Little did we know, Benadryl was also one of the culprits. He was taking that and Tylenol to help him sleep. Bob told me the Benadryl made him feel doped and no fouch, and I stopped it. He got better, then the rash came and Nurse said give him 2 benadryl every 4 hours, and they came back.

I told this to the dermatologist and she said yes, benadryl does cause hallucinations and losing focus and sleeping around the clock, as does Gabapentin, on Some Patients. She said all NSAIDS, and any thing that messes with the brain to stop pain, and antihistamines that cause drowsiness, can do the same thing. She gave him Alegra, non drowsy and it helps with no side effects

These two drugs were the culprits for the weeks of crazy hallucinations and we already new remeron, an antidepressant does the same, all 3 drugs he has been give by DOCTORS and no one said a word about this even when I told them about the dreams and hallucinations. I just canNOT believe I had to figure it out for myself.

He also now is able to watch TV and understand what he is watching and enjoy his favorite team, Dallas Cowboys get whomped and whomped. 4 months, he could not watch a TV show

The 4 months of him crazy out of his head were caused by drugs given to him in Hospital and Rehab home, but Doctors who did not LISTEN to what I told them.

I have now advised his 3 doctors, the only meds he is taking are BP, blood thinner, cholesterol. His mind has cleared, and he no longer sees things or talks to people who are not there. He does have trouble with short term memory and can't learn new skills. like a new remote.

All in all, the report is a good one, he still can't walk, still don't know the type of dementia but he is much better than he was. None of this has helped the exhaustion of the caregiver, because I am still the Only Pioneer Woman Standing with an old dog and and old hubby to care for... Lack of sleep is my worst problem.. and makes me into a grumpy bear witchy poo that walks around in the dark with a red lantern to keep from falling down. Red lights up but doesn't blind.

I am glad that things have improved somewhat. Yes, docs prescribe drugs like candy...and don't consider the kn own side effects until they become unbearable for the person taking said drugs...as you found out. So sorry that those infusions were stopped, and cancelled, due to Biob bewing too allergic to them. Polypharmacy is another huge problem esp for elederly people.
I hope those biopsies come back negative...
And I sure hope you can get some good quality sleep. I just read today that magnolia extract can help a lot with sleep...check out Swanson.com, or a health food store.

Beau looks like he's taking a good nap to recharge his batteries.

That picture of the red reflection would make a good image for a scary time such as halloween...though I do not like the scary stuff associated with that day.
I find Halloween contrary to my Christian beliefs.

Sending tons of hugs your way.
Prayers, too.

This is wonderful news! He does not wake you up screaming and seeing things anymore! But you are still in the same predicament! Not Alzheimer's! I know there are quite a few different kinds. I hope they can pin it down, maybe then they can help him more than they are now.

I'm so glad the hallucinations are gone, but I wish you could get some sleep! I'm impressed you can do as much as you do. Love and prayers.

Hello Sandra,
Good news, I am glad to hear Bob is improving.
The side effects from the drugs can be awful.
If only they can find a way to help him walk.
Cute photo of Beau in your spot. He is keeping it warm for you.
I wish you could get some sleep too, it helps.
Sending prayers for you all, stay well and take care.

So many medications it makes my head spin. It seems that the medical profession resorts to chemical formulations, prescribed or over the counter, far too often. I read recently that Americans are the most over-medicated people in the world and among the least healthy. Seems to me there’s a correlation somewhere. Glad that Bob is doing much better, because that means that you are too. Take good care - David

Thank you for this update which, on balance, is at least level, if not improved. Big hugs, YAM xx

That's awesome news that the hallucinations have stopped and great that he is able to watch tv again. I'm sure just that alone has made a world of difference.

I am so glad to hear from you. I was thinking yesterday that it had been too long, and I was getting concerned, so I prayed. And here you are today. This is such good news. I didn't know benadryl could cause hallulcinations! Intersesting! I will keep that in mind. This is good news to hear from you. Praying things will just get better and better. Love the red light photo! (((HUGS)))

It's so good that things are improving and are so much better than they were.
You must be exhausted, so I hope the changes for the better are allowing you a little more rest.

I'm glad to get and update. I'm also glad you got rid of the awful medication that Bob didn't like. Him watching television is a good thing. I know you're tired. You need someone to help you each day so you can take a nap or whatever else you want to do. Big healing hugs all around and scritches to handsome Beau. ♥

"I just can NOT believe I had to figure it out for myself." I don't trust most of the medical field. That's why I do tons of research and try to figure things out for myself, especially for my dogs. Thank goodness you had someone who could help you figure it out/confirm what you thought. The short-term memory loss is pretty common in folks Bob's age. Have you tried taking melatonin to help you sleep?
Love the "Positve thinking...loading...please wait: ! 🀣🀣

We're glad to hear Bob is doing better on some fronts. Too bad the infusions had to stop due to the reaction. It's good to hear Beau is doing well too. Paws are crossed for all of you, but especially you, Sandra. Try to take some time for yourself if you can.

Seriously spooky!!! Both your red lantern image and the doctors' mistakes. Thank goodness you've never lost your intuition, nor your powers of investigation.
I'm really glad to hear Bob's mental fugue is improving; this makes me wonder how many souls in nursing homes, etc. are falling prey to all the chemical they're being given.
Hip, hip hurray for no Alzheimer markers in the blood work! That's the best news yet.

Sandra, Bob and Beau I am thrilled to read the positive news today.
I know they are baby steps forward but wow so much better than the giant backward steps he was taking

Good news about the hallucinations gone and that he can watch tv again. Meds and combinations of drugs can be terrible sometimes. Taking a pill isn't the answer to everything.
Speaking of which, we just went to Dave's doctor a few days ago. Dave was dizzy a lot and had shortness of breath sometimes. DR. said to stop taking the BP meds he has been on for years. Its something like Metropole ?? He said that brand and strength can affect older people with those symptoms. So yesterday was his first day off and things seem to be going well. Its a 2 week trial. Praying it will be the answer.
Hugs to you and I will email you soon.

It's certainly not perfect there by any means, but it does seem somewhat better. Isn't it funny that the doctors did not 'get' what was happening???

messymimi said...

It's a sad state. A doc prescribes a med, you have a reaction, they give you another med to stop the reaction! Instead, they should switch to a new med and keep switching until they find what works without bad effects, but that takes too long. They are squeezed by the insurance companies to see more and more patients in less and less time,

Our best defense is to look up probable side effects ourselves and then insist on being given something different without the effect.

You are in my heart and prayers.

Good to know things are a little better but oh my goodness, still a lot of stuff you are having to deal with. I hope those biopsies come back negative too, that Beau continues to do well and I hope you start getting some good sleeps soon. Thanks for the update. Still sending prayers and lots of hugs.

Thanks for the update. It is good that you worked out what drugs were causing the problems. i'm still trying to work out which ones cause the dizziness that Bill gets. The info sheets with the drugs all say 'can cause dizziness' so I guess he has to get used to it.
So good to hear that things seem a little better. Now we all hope you can get some good night's sleep.

So thankful to hear about Beau and Bob. And WOW about the drugs! So all these reports I've been reading about so many prescription drugs actually causing and/or contributing to ALZ, etc. is true then. Glad you could figure out what was causing so many of the health issues. Well done you. I've gone through our medicine cabinet and tossed lots of those crap drugs (I call them). They're dangerous.
Praying that y'alls days will only get better.
Love. ❤️

I'm so glad you were able to figure out what medicines were causing those side effects. And it's really kind of scandalous that doctors aren't more aware of it and inform about the possibility, so that one knows what to look out for... Bob is lucky to have you "in his corner", Sandra! ♥ Also glad that you were able to buy that bed.

I'm glad Beau is doing well. I pray that Bob's tests go well. I'm glad you guys are doing a little better. Hope it continues. That's interesting about no Alzheimer Markers. That is great news about the hallucinations. I know I can't take Gabapentin. Wow, Benadryl too! I'm glad you figured those out. Good to know. That is great news about watching TV. That really sucks how they did that to him. I'm glad things are better for him but you need more rest too. Take care. You are in my prayers.
