Just like 7 knives that did their Houdini move into the spoon section of the drawer, my tiny mouse "went missing", MIA, GONE BABY GONE, Nowhere to be found.
For two days.
Imagine my surprise when I reached into the plate that belongs to Beau, the one that holds his treats, Meds, Ear Drops etc , the one that sits on the kitchen counter by the sink, and phone and laptop in a place I am in very often, and
I Suddenly Saw The Mouse.
(the sentence was so long, I forgot why I reached into the plate)
Here's What Happens. I carry what ever is in my hand with me when I move, and I sit it down. Evidence shows I move on and leave it, because if its my coffee cup and I go to take another sip, I CAN'T find it. Once I searched the entire house and could not find it. Until I sat down on the sofa and spied with my little eye, my cup sitting by the TV, in plain sight, on top of the external speaker.
This might be why, when I reach for a pen, to jot something down so I remember it, I find there is no pen, but when I walk in the kitchen there are SIX pens by the pad.
I am like a MadSquirrel, toting acorns here and there and leaving them.
The carry things around happens when my focus is broken, but I wrote this poem November 2021 that proves I was crazy then, and I have said before, it all started March 28th of 2020 when COVID shut the world down..
This might also prove that I am an easily stressed person and that what causes it is I LOVE ROUTINE and can't function without it. Interrupting the Routine, Interrupts My Brain Thoughts.
I fell down the AI deep dive hole when I asked if there is a name for this.
I will stop Now, except for the poem from 4 years ago.
Its OK to say you wish I would forget how to make a short story long. Bob says it a lot.
👍👍 up for Routine!
Routine is my middle name,
which means habits are my only game.
Wake Up and potty, then make the bed.
I don' have to think, this is in my head.
Brush my teeth, brush my hair.
Back to the bed, exercising by lifting legs into the air.
Stretches' next, then kick my legs,
Head to the kitchen to cook my eggs,
Each day has its on thing to be done,
I check them off, one by one.
Saturday 6 am is shopping
Sunday is reserved for vac and mopping.
Showers are usually in late afternoon,
Reading and commenting are done before noon.
If you have known me for awhile,
you can now say OCD and smile.
I have daily exercise, set up for each day,
the time, the exercise, different everyday.
Last Sunday, before I got up, my mind still whirling in a Beaumont Daze,
I suddenly realized I had done zero exercise for 8 whole days.
Nothing, Nada, not one at all,
my mind focused on the fact beau can not play ball.
I got out of bed,
Showered and washed the hair on my head.
Bob said aren't we doing the floor?
Oh NO, I forgot, this I have never forgotten before.
I thought once more, about the missed exercise,
I went to lay on the bed and to my surprise,
I had forgotten to make up the bed.
I made up the bed, lay down and was blinded by the ceiling light over my head
It seems I forgot to turn it off, before I lay down,
Even though blinded, the evidence was clear, causing my face to frown.
the fan and 4 lights was draped in cobwebs, it seems I forgot to swipe them down.

IMenjoyed all the Beau's of 2025! Sometimes I don't take pics of our two for several weeks, then I go on a spree...
I can relate to that poem, ever since I began working after 20 some years of not...my established routines went bye bye...not to mention what social media does to any semblance of routines.
we olost our routine as things became different... to find a new one is a challenge... it can hide like your small mouse...

Routine is like a security blanket... and can be traumatic when upturned or lost! As for the placement of objects - even in routine that can happen. Sigh... YAM xx
I used to be very rigid with my routine. An unexpected change threw me into a tizzy. These days I'm not quite so bad although I do tend to follow a daily routine.
Hello,
Things are always getting lost in our house, hubby's glasses and hearing aid are the most common things to be lost. I like routine too, things can get stressful if things are not the same.
Take care, enjoy your day and the week ahead.
I think we all follow a routine in the daily events of our lives, and we certainly all misplace things from time to time. The other day we couldn’t find crackers until we opened the fridge to get the cheese and there they were! I have a bowl of cereal for breakfast every morning, except that once in a while I decide, generally the night before, that I will have something else the next day. It’s amazing how often I then find myself sitting eating my cereal because that’s what I do every day! In some ways we are automatons!
Was that squirrel real, or a trick of your photography? That stymied me as I tried to figure it out. LOL. Me thinks it was a figment of your imagination, or Beau would've been going wild with a squirrel that close! As far as routines go, oh my! I know, if I get one thing out of line it throws everything else off, and I have to retrace my steps to get back in line! LOL. Like right now, instead of sitting here writing to you, I am supposed to be putting out the flag, which I just heard my hubby do instead since I am running behind, and then we do our morning devotions and then have breakfast. We woke up a little late, and the schedule is already running behind. Oh My!! LOL. At least I already fed the cat. Amazing how HE makes sure I stay on task , at least as far as HE is concerned. How did that little neighborhood creature become the ruler of our universe lately? It's true, however. Well I'd better get a move on before I write a whole book here. Glad you found the mouse. At first I wondered why you had a "mouse" in the house. LOL. It's early and I'm not quite awake yet. LOL.
There is something good about a routine at times. Though we were on an 11-day Christmas Staycation so the days were wild. Last night I baked at 9:30 in the evening. Wild, I say, wild.
Loved your poem and your energy. You are funny too. It's the best!
I always enjoy when you make short stories long...ALWAYS!
LOL....you must be speaking to me today. I've mis-placed some meds and I've looked every where in this house...They will show up and I sure...but when? This is a million dollar question. I'm gonna stay calm and just wait for my little eyes to see what I'm missing. lol.. isn't it fun getting older...however, I don't think its my age, I think it's me not paying attention.
I hate it when my routine goes off and does it's own thing too. Big hugs from all of us!
I do that kind of thing too and then find things in the craziest places! I love the Beau and squirrel pic. :)
Routine is a good thing.
I'm glad you found your mouse. Habits can get disrupted when life is disrupted. I hope 2026 can be filled with more routine to keep you on track.
BOL BOL amazing how things that were just in your hand can disappear. I do that with my phone sometimes.
This was a fun post
Hugs Cecilia
Our babies have a routine and we make sure we follow that routine. Love this post.
Have a fabulous day and week. Scritches to Beau and a big hug to mom. ♥
I love this poem so much! Probably on account, Routine has always been my security blanket; without it, I'm a train wreck. At least in my own head.
Your missing mouse reminds me of my readers. I bought several pair to keep, one in each room of the house. Great idea, right? Wrong. I went to sit down here and no glasses -- they were with two other pair in the kitchen. (*sigh*)
I loved this post and your fun poem too! I am totally a creature of habit, and I hate when I can't find something. My OCD kicks in and I turn everything upside down to find it. It's how I roll! 😊
You are way overloaded so being absentminded is natural. Please take care of yourself as best you can. ❤️💕❤️💕❤️💕
Mom say she spends half her life looking for things! She REALLY needs a better routine.
Some of us are born story tellers and those are the ones who make short stories long! (My friends say, you always have a story lol!) Lady for Tigris, Styx and Lanie too
This is so me. And it seems when one thing goes wrong, it sets everything else off. I think both of us love routine because we like to have everything under control. Routine allows for no bad surprises. LOVE the poem! And do not remember ever reading it. Also love you as a squirrel. Beau knows the squirrel is only you and that is why he is not chasing you.
I too have a routine - but I am trying hard to vary it once in awhile. I love the squirrel!
