Go Purple March 26 K-9 Epilepsy Awareness Day

Canine Epilepsy Awareness is primarily observed on March 26th as part of International Purple Day®, with specific focus on #PAWS4PURPLE to support dogs with epilepsy, also known as "Epi-warriors". The day aims to raise awareness, share, and educate on, as well as de-stigmatize, the neurological condition.

Canine epilepsy is a common, often genetic, neurological disorder causing recurrent seizures due to abnormal brain activity, most frequently appearing in dogs under 5 years old. Symptoms include convulsions, loss of consciousness, stiffening, paddling, and drooling. While incurable, it is managed with lifelong medication to improve quality of life

Hello,
Thanks for sharing, I did not know about this disease in dogs.
I am glad it can be managed with medication.
Cute images. Take care, have a great day!

Years ago one of my flatmates had a Boxer with epilepsy - poor dog.

Never having owned a dog I am woefully ignorant of the illnesses from which they suffer. Epilepsy sounds quite terrible, as it is for humans, of course.

I didn't realize that dogs could have epilepsy. Glad to hear that medication can manage the symptoms.
Love that frog in the last picture

Well, I learned something new today. I did not know about epilepsy in dogs either! I'm glad it can be controlled with medication, but I imagine that is quite expensive. I love your purple pics, and thank you for the information!
I hope you have a lovely day today!!

My velcro dog, Frodo the Faller, a beautiful Dalmatian, had epilepsy for most of his life. I always slept with one ear open. We gated the bedroom so that he wouldn't stumble out in the post-ictal stage and tumble down the stairs. It's frightening to see, but sadly, you soon get used to it.

Pretty in purple ... all y'all!
I just learned Monday morning at study that someone's Shepherd is on meds for epilepsy.

You're so good about educating us to critical sorts of things we might otherwise not know. Thank you!

I like the purple pictures.
It's sad that some dogs have so many ailments. Poor little things.
Love ya.

It is epilepsy day for humans too. I love purple. It was a royal color two thousand years ago.

Good for you, raising awareness for canines with epilepsy. Even cats can have it, but it doesn’t have to mean putting the animal down. The right treatments can make their lives good and healthy.

I especially like the cat doing yoga or whatever she's doing and the next one with you peeking into the picture of the purple haired girl. My second schnauzer, who had a class 4 heart murmur, also developed epilepsy and died at 19 months old. It's a terrible thing.

I dig all the purple. I had no idea about any of this. Thank you! Never had a pup who had this. It's good now that I know about it.l
