"I Rest My Case"

It is rare for me to do a second post on the same day. Some of you are aware of my fear of bees. Our local news reported this AM, that the Africanized Killer Bees are here in Florida.

Yesterday in St.Petersburg, 3 men while trimming a tree were attacked by killer bees and all three remain hospitalized with dozens of stings.

a local beekeeper, said there is no way to distinguish between a honey bee and the killer bee. He said they are very aggressive and if attacked to run, not swat at them. if swatted they become more aggressive and they are deadly. they warned to contact a bee keeper if you want think you have them.

Last year we noticed our bees are more aggressive and during the cold winter months, more than once, my husband and I have one dive at us and become aggressive and also chase the dogs. It seems they killer bees come and mate with the honey bees and become little maniac crazy bees.
I rest my case! no more bee photos for me

Oh yuck. You stay clear of them! :) I've actually never tried to take a photo of a bee. Only of occasional bumble bees (which have only seemed interested in the flowers and not in me).

Very sharp for taking pictures off the tv. All my neighbors have bee hives, never been stung, but hope I never run into a killer bee.

Stay well clear of these guys they are particularly aggressive and attack on mass. When they sting they release a pheromone that smells like bananas. This causes the others to become aggressive and they then swarm. They only attack if the colony is threatened.

That's scary to me. Please be careful. Love nature pictures but sure don't want to be attacked taking them.

Now killer bees. That's one thing I don't like. Can't imagine what a terrible death that would be. Don't let them swarm west. We have enough scary things here.

That sounds like what you have in your backyard, it will be hard to remember no swatting, the running part will be easy! I hope they don't come here, I can't run! I would have to SLINK away. Well, for at least ten years we've been hearing about these bees, encroaching on the country, getting more and more. But whatever happened? Did they slow down for awhile? That used to be all anyone talked about, but years ago. It is bad because you can't tell them apart from the others! And if they cross mate (do they?) they will be crazy bees. You need to research this on Wikipedia or something. I think they are killer bees because regular ones won't bother you unless you really threaten them. Killers will attack anything that moves. Do they have hives, I think they may live in the ground. What about Baby's digging? You need to find out what kind of places they like to live, look for where they come and go from so you can find out (with binoculars or a big zoom lens)! Gosh, if the sky isn't falling, then the bees are!!!! Too bad the sky doesn't fall on THEM!!!

I could actually only comment on one of your post via my phone..sooo, don't go getting yourself stung now! Amazing they can't tell the difference? Must be a reason for this? Sorry to here that..these guys must have some pent up anxiety huh??

Okay, no more bees for you! That breed is particularly nasty and nothing like our sweet little honey bees. There is a beekeeper at the farmers' market that I talk to regularly. We were talking about the Africanized bees awhile back, so far they have not gotten this far north.

Yes, do be careful, although I wouldn't mind if you kept these bees in Florida.
