First Impressions (think twice)

"It is only with the heart that one can see rightly, what is essential is invisible to the eye." quote from Antoine de Saint-Exupery's The Little Prince

Compare these two photos, both are exactly the same photo, but changed to be more pleasing to my eye. It might not be more pleasing to YOUR eyes.

View others with love and not with what we THINK they should be or look like or act like. Use the talents and gifts we have and know inside ourselves that the only person we can change is ourselves. that what we see is not always what we think we see.

On the outside/inside a person might have scars, but those scars have formed that person and should be seen with eyes of love and understanding. Our local library at times has 8 to 10 homeless persons sitting quietly and reading magazines, getting out of the heat. I have heard many complaints, but we need to think about these words I found

Rough diamonds may sometimes be mistaken for worthless pebbles.  Sir Thomas Browne

A hurting person needs a helping hand, not an accusing finger. unknown author

This post is a reminder to myself, to see with the heart and not the mind and to see with they eyes of Jesus, as he did, the inner parts of a person, not the outer.

John 8:3-12, "And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst, They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act. Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou? This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not. So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her. And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground. And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst. When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee? She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more."

I noted already in your header that you had been playing around with the pumpkins! :)

I remember doing something similar with pumpkin pictures taken at the supermarket a year ago... Must be something about pumpkins that makes one want to posterize them (or whatever it's called).

Anyway... I like your words as well, they're well worth contemplating.

What is essential is invisible to the eye - I LOVE that!! For the first time ever, I got so carried away with reading your thoughts that I did not look at the pictures!!! I remembered and had to go back!!! Don't you think usually it's the other way around? Sandra, I wish you would write your thoughts like this a bit more, you are such a good writer! I KNOW we were just talking about this on e-mail, but this is short and very affecting. The homeless people should be allowed to continue to stay in the library as long as they don't bother anyone and are respectful, that is a more important service than the books!! I think you found the beauty inside these kind of dull vegetables, but then you always find the beauty in everything.

Wow, deep thoughts for reflection, and not just reflection, but for action and maybe a change of heart. Beautifully said! And I love the post editing on the fall veggies, so interesting they just pop off my monitor.

Dear Sandra, this post is wonderful and so inspiring and it is also a great reminder to all of us. Every word that you wrote and every quote in this post is so beautiful and so very true. I also love every photo that you posted; whether they are processed or not, they are all beautiful on their own way. I enjoyed this post very much and I am thankful to you for that.

Great post Sandra, the message is clear if we are willing to listen. I love that first quote from The Little Prince. Each of your photos is beautiful in its own way, both before and after.

I enjoyed this Sandra..I think if we're in Him then we can then be in the moment..maybe that way we can actually see others through His eyes. Often it is our standards we view others from (as if they have to come up to ours)..but so easy to fall into- pumpkins are great- I've been enjoying them this season:)
