Gosh, look at those prickles n the leaves! I see why it looks like a sunflower. It is in the sunflower family. Let me know how tall it grows.

Yeah! It's blooming :) I love the way some of the petals are bent up towards the center. It looks like it's little hands are reaching up to cover a giggle.

Nice to see your mystery flower open and to identify it as a variety of rudbekia. I like the alternative name too.

These flowers usually attract goldfinches, especially after they dry on the stem. John's mom called goldfinches "canaries!!!" lol

Hello,

Very pretty. I love the Black-eyed Susan. It is Maryland's state flower.
We have two blooms the critters have not eaten, yet. Enjoy your day!

I think it's covering a giggle too! Maybe it read some of the cute things on your blog and now it's shy about laughing! Hugs!

With a given name like Rudbeckia, no wonder the poor thing prefers Black-Eyed Susan! Besides, I like the name Susan.

This reminds me of Van Morrison's "Brown-eyed girl … you, my brown-eyed girl."

I love black eye Susans....but then again, I like most flowers except....Roses. I relate that smell to funeral homes.
