Fanasty Butterly

Combo edit in Lunapic and New PicMonkey

The oddest thing happened this week, Bob called me to the door and said watch this butterfly. It would sit down on the deck, spin and walk, spin and walk, lift to a hover and do it again. We came inside because he flew away, as I closed the glass door, he came and sat down, I grabbed a few shots through the door..

He turned one way and another. I added four photos in new PM and this is a simulation of what he did for about 3 minutes.

UPDATE! due to Ginny's comment I searched and I am pretty sure this is called PUDDLING

When the butterfly thought the world was over, it became a butterfly.

Your edit is gorgeous, what a treat! And so is your large butterfly picture. He looks like black velvet. I can see what he was doing, so strange! I Googled it even, but got nothing. He looks absolutely perfect, not ragged or unhealthy. Just totally gorgeous. I like your uplifting quotes to go with this!

What a beautiful butterfly. That is pretty odd what it was doing. I wonder why it was doing that.

My first thought was 'puddling' also. Although that is usually in a gravelly area. I see them doing that at the lake all the time. It has to do with salts, minerals and amino acids and eventually the reproduction process.

My second thought was brain injury.

Good morning,

Love your butterfly I have seen them puddling, they seem to especially love muddy spots or dirt spots. I like the butterfly quote.
Have a happy day!

How interesting! I've never heard of this before. Thanks to Ginny for pointing it out! Wonderful photos Sandra!

Fascinating as usual.
the reasons for "puddling" make sense because of the deck and pool water splashes that accumulate. Beautiful butterfly. We sure don't have many flitting around here any more. I really miss seeing them.

That's so interesting. And the pictures are just beautiful. Love what you did with it too in that first picture. And my computer is about to go travel into oblivion, I think. I'm going to vacuum it, but not today. I will still be on email on my kindle, should this one conk out.
