Jaguar in the house

The duffel I take my towel in to the YMCA is from the summer of 2001. It has no pockets at all.
In my search for a new duffel I found new ones did not fit in my budget.

I hit my favorite thrift store and Bazinga!  $6.00 and I brought this Vintage Jaguar Weekender home.

I am feeling a little sad because it is Vintage and not nearly as old as I am, so what does that make me??

It is not a duffel, but has several pockets, and the inside is waterproof. The good news is, I found one on ebay for $39.99 and if i want to sell this one I can buy a Vintage Duffle bag for 20.00.
The thing is, the zipper nearly killed my arthritis in my thumb.
I tied a long red ribbon on the zipper to grab and pull but decided
I will be donating it back. I do not like it at all. Do not Want it.

DO YOU SHOP THRIFT STORES?   this question is not for YOU LINDA CHAPMAN..😁

PS this post has been sitting in my drafts since March 26, and I have had this bag since Mid May... Just so you know...
I now have a new bag... My Area Captain of TOPS gave me this bag and it is perfect. Pockets for glasses and STUFF and lots of room for towel and Stuff..

Hurray, you got a new nice big one!! Looks brand new, too. This black and yellow one is much more stylish. You will be sorry you asked, I am like Linda, only 100 times worse!! I make the rounds of all the thrift stores every week. ALL my clothes are from Goodwill and my closets are bursting. I have thought about posting my finds, like she does. Nothing excites me more than a new thrift store!! I have gotten gorgeous things for the kitchen for pennies!! And toys for the girls. For me,it is something really fun to do that is cheap. Now I will not be able to get to sleep because of talking about it!

Seeing things in the store marked vintage makes me sad too because they are things I remember having growing up.
I like bags with lots of pockets so that the smaller items don't get lost in the bottom. Your new bag looks nice.
I do like thrift stores but don't go very often because I'm afraid of bringing home more stuff that I don't really need. It is fun to browse through them though

Officially, anything which is older than ten years but not more than 50 is considered to be RETRO. Anything which is between 50 and 100 years is VINTAGE, and only 100 years or over can be called ANTIQUE. Up to ten years wear is simply a USED product. So your thrift store needs to sort out its terminology. The bag was retro (1990s/naughties maybe?) while you are vintage!!!

I have been known to trawl through a few such stores... YAM xx

WooHoo I don't blame you no way would I keep something that cause me pain...
For many years there was a place near NCSU called Bargain Box. It was owned and operated by the Junior League of Raleigh. I made to excellent purchases there. Both were pocketbooks/backsack. Both were 'designer' no telling what they originally sold for but I bought one for 5 and one for 10!
Now you have given me an idea for a similar post. LOL Thanks that is what I love about blogging all the fun things you find.

Your new one is perfect
Hugs Cecilia

Glad you have one you like finally...wonderful that it was given to you, too. Yes, i do shop thrift stores, but I don't have much luck.

Love, love, love thrift stores even though I don't frequent them as much as I did at one time. And . . . tapestry bags and tapestry in general is my thing.

You could keep the tapestry bag as a pretty storage container for like mittens and scarves. Oh wait . . . ;) ;)

I don't mind being vintage. Others are much more tolerant and helpful now.

Bottom line - the important thing is you still go to the Y even if you use a Walmart bag.

I'd prefer the TOPS bag! BRIGHTER, like your personality. Mostly I donate to thrift stores. But, I have occasionally purchased glass/trinkets.

And to answer your first question, I'd say that makes you ancient (jk)

Hello,

I do not do much shopping at all. We have donated lots to Goodwill. We bought a duffel bag from Walmart that we use a lot. Your TOPS bag is cute. Wishing you a happy day and a great new week!

The first thing that came into my mind was "You're a Classic!" Sorry it didn't work out. No I do not shop thrift stores. I can't even do stores like T.J. Maxx or Marshall's. I need order not chaos.

I love a bag with plenty of pockets for "stuff".
It's a great advertisement for TOPS too.
The other bag was really pretty but if it hurts you every time you use it...it's not good.
Got your message this morning.. one day at a time....
Love you friend
Sue

The TOPS bag is great looking, but I'd totally be tempted to STEAL your jaguar when your back was turned. (jk!) Different pattern, but it reminds me of the luggage I inherited from my mother. Yep, even the broken pull-thingie. I've been using the twist ties that come on bread wrappers -- how hillbilly is THAT?
I ADORE thrift stores. (And, as you know, estate sales.) But like many have said, I not only need to cut back, but there's hardly any more room. I don't know if this is an issue in Bradenton, but my DIL cautions me not to buy anything that can't be thoroughly washed/scrubbed, etc. on account of bed bugs.

I know the pa in you feel in your thumb - I have it in both and it hurts. Your new bag is MUCH better.

It's a beautiful bag, what a great find! I'm afraid to go into thrift stores, I need to downsize big time and don't want to add any more, but then if I need something, lol!

Thrift stores and garage sales are always fun to peruse. My problem is I always come home with things I don't need LOL.

Yes, Sandra, I do enjoy shopping at thrift stores and have found some great deals for myself and others. That said there have been some things that didn’t work out well, like your bag, and were either donated back or given away. Linda C. Is certainly a great shopper.

Yes, and today I stop in animal shelter thrift store and got some scrubs for a sewing project.

Glad you found a suitable one and free. NO good if the zippers are too difficult to use. I have a fleece jacket like that.

I love this! My name is Linda Chapman and I’m a thrift store addict!
The thing is....things can be so inexpensive that when it doesn’t work out - you just give it back and go another round! I do that with purses all the time!

I have not been a thrift store shopper for many years. My best friend is the most dedicated thrift store shopper I know, I used to go with her. I never was as lucky at finding things as she has always been. I like your TOPS bag and it sounds like just what you wanted. Hope you are having a great week. Hugs
