Update on Bob's Surgery

Order of photos in collage, left to right

Out Patient Lobby 5:45 AM
My view 6 to 8 AM
The circle Dr drew
4 inch incision she made
10 AM Bob's Happy Face, nurse is taking out IV and sending home. Home by 10:30
Supplies I purchased
Make Do Supplies from drawer
First bandage at 2 pm
Bed time bandage

He went to OR at 8 AM, back to Post Op at 10, surgery was about 40 minutes. Doctor said in OR she decided to take as much as she could since I had told her He said he was not coming back again. Thus the large gash. The thing is 72 hours later, it is healed together.
Instructions were keep bandage on for 48 hours (beautiful bandage with see through tape) that allowed me to see if it bled. IT BLED, the bandage was soaked.

I wanted to see the blood if it bled again, the tape I purchased was not clear,
I made do with clear window made from packing tape.

Bedtime it was soaked again, I did better on that one.
HE IS FINE, still looks Grumpy though, can't swim get in pool until June 10th
which causes Me PAIN..

My consolation price is not one but TWO pair of beautiful yellow Socks,
1 pair from the surgery that was not and one from the surgery that WAS.
Why are they different colors, Now I will have to MATCH them when I wash them. HE says I can HAVE them..
Any one interested?

From the picture I just learned spots can be white. Cool socks.

Nothing beats those hospital slippers! I looked and read with great interest. Seems like it all went very well, except for maybe bleeding a bit more than it should. Is he on pain pills? Will he stay out of the pool? For this and more, stay tuned to the Mad One.

All sounds good and I am sure a relief to be home again. He will be happy when he can get in the pool.

You take such good care of him!

I know I shouldn't but I can't help laughing at Bob's "happy" face. I have all the same questions that Ginny does.
I would have had a hard time changing that bandage. I don't do well with blood and cuts.

Hi Sandra, just to let you know that I am going to resume blogging but making this for other authors only, this should stop spam and any other unwanted readers. sorry for messing about. This means other bloggers will be able to read but general public will not.

Here's to hasty healing then... are those non-slip dots on the socks? They can be good for wearing in sandals, to prevent forward slide. They must come from different dye batches, hence the colour shift. YAM xx

I'd hate to see his grumpy face!

In all seriousness tho, let's hope it heals well without complications, and he's back in the pool soon. You do good work Nurse Snaper!!

Prayers for a quick recovery and a smile back on Bob's face.

I wouldn't have given those spots a second thought. Glad they the professionals know what they are looking for.

Jumpin' CATFISH THAT WAS some precise stitching by the Doc.

thank goodness all is going well. I have several pair of skid proof socks like that from times family members have had procedures.

Thanks for the surgical update, Sandra. Anyone would like grumpy after surgery so Bob isn’t an exception, but glad all seems to have gone well and is done.

Interesting! I'd no idea what melanoma looked like … surely not those (seemingly insignificant) white spots like this. Yikes … good catch! Using packing tape as a window was a brilliant idea. If she was still doing her 'thang', I'd suggest you share with "Hints for Heloise."

Chuckling at those hospital socks. Tom's given me his last two (3?) pair. For years they've sat unused; then, when I got my new phone it was too large for any of our carrying cases. (And I was too cheap to pay what Verizon wanted for a new one.) Yep, I've one sock in my purse; another in my fanny pack. Let 'em laugh; it might be the only occasion they have to do so.

I'm glad it is done and he is healing. I'm sure it will be hard to keep him out of the pool...it's pool weather for sure! Take care! Looks like his and hers socks to me! lol Hugs!

I guess what I was going to write is a repeat of what other friends are saying...
Poor Bob and his grumpy face and poor you being the nurse to all of that...but really you are doing a great job and I know deep down in Bob's heart he is truly grateful for your skills and that the melanoma was removed.
I have a green pair of socks just like yours. I wear them occasionally when the temps are cold. Helps the ankles stay warm.
Had another Parade of ants across our kitchen floor last night when we got home from a meeting.
That was not in my plans for the evening..ugh, I detest those critters.
I never did figure out what they were after or where they were headed.
No sign of them this morning...It did get our floor cleaned though...not a job for Sunday night me thinks...

Okay love those two yellow socks - but I sure hope they got it all - will he be tested again or assumed it out? Ouch!

Odd that the socks don't match! Wow...that looks like a big cut across Bobs back. Yikes. Glad all is well.
