Humpty Dumpty sat in the nook

Candle Holder -Deceased 1994-2016 Humpty Dumpty Syndrome
 My candle holder breaks,
And Now My head aches.
Humpty Dumpty can't go together again,
It is now resting in the garbage bin..
Before I  get madder
I grab the ladder.
Open the cabinet door
And I do find More.
All is well,
as this story I tell.
I was so mad I could spit,
But The nook is still well lit.
washed and waiting to go back on the shelves

Most of you know my Nook is full of lights and GLASS and that I have a love/hate relationship with it because it requires washing. You do not know that I have a cabinet over the fridge that holds the over flow of years of buying glass I did not NEED.

Feb 2016 new look

Above is the replacement.. below shows the 2 inch candle holder, subject of a post last week, and the 6 inch candle holder. With the aid of 2 globe only candle holder, the deceased has been replaced.

The Moral Of This Story, is be careful how you wash your glass and always keep a back up ready.

March Annual Complaint

March Annual Complaint Time is here.  Bob said look in the pool. Yellow Slime every where. Our eyes are itching and we are sneezing

While looking up in our Lobolly Pine tree, I said Look at all those thingys. I have never seen so many before...

Then I said, I know what they are but can't remember... Then  I found this in a former post in 2010 and every year since then...

They are strobili and there are males and females. Above is the female. Below is all the males..

It is a "female strobili" when the bud sprouts like this, it is part of cross pollination process

I bent and picked up two of the CULPRITS that are spraying yellow pollen Every Where and said Wow, I have not seen this before..... REALLY?

It seems I have taken photos of this in the past and posted about this in the past and HAVE NO MEMORY OF IT.....
The not so funny thing is, I have posted several times about this CLICK HERE for 2014 post

And it appears I have a LABEL that has shows 5 post on this very subject in the past.. I am really getting worried over these senior moments.

At least every day is a new day and I can post about things I have already posted and forgotten and HOPE that all of you have forgotten I posted about them.

female strobili up close and cropped. do not pick one, your fingers will stick together forever

Senior MOMENT..again

We stepped out in the garage on the way to the YMCA and I stood looking through my keys for the KEY to start the Kia.
Bob said "What are you doing? ... "
I said "I can't  find the key... "

He started laughing... I started laughing

Clutched in my fingers in position to go in the ignition was the KEY

OLD AGE it IS Upon Us...
.The photos are a re-creation since for once in my life the camera was not in my pocket. Besides it was dark in the garage. That is my excuse and I am sticking to it.

Two Barns - Historical Village

When I was 13, my friends parents had a barn. She had older brothers who delighted in squirting us with milk causing us to run and scream and laugh. We often sat with our legs hanging out the hay door, enjoying life. Oh Youth...

Youth is a gift of nature, but old age is a work of art.. Stanislaw

Old barns tell the best stories........

Barn Rules
If you ride it, feed it
If it drinks water, give it some
If you unlock it, lock it back up
If you borrow it, return it
If you don't know, ask
If you leave a mess, clean it up
If you break it, fix it
If you move it, put it back
If you throw it down, pick it up..

Back Yard...the Moon and the Sun

When I hover over the moon pic, it says  6:19 AM... since it is still dark at that time I knew the time on the Nikon was off by more than a bit....I hovered over the the sun on the green leaf and it was also not the 10 am I took the photo.

Both were taken with the Nikon P610 purchased 5 months ago. Seems I never set the time and now I know why.... it took a good 5 minutes of poking and prodding to even find the date and time set in the menu. I found one that said set time with Satellite.. What? How do I find it? the thing would not let me go there any way. I spent 15 minutes with the camera just setting the time.

I did find the Nikon will connect to internet, publish on FB or other sites, connect to satelite, put locations on photos. blah blah blah.... to use all this I have to connect to wi-fi, set up a password IN MY CAMERA...

I finally found the place for old ladies who don't want to set up passwords or publish from camera on internet and "I Set the Blinking Time"....

ALL this because I wanted to know what time I took the photo. ahhhhhhh technology

Which brings to mind the JOYOUS day last week that we took our His and Her remotes (both to same big screen TV)  to our cable provider to exchange for remotes that both stopped working at the same time. NO it was not the battery... we wore the little round wheely thingy out and it would not go left or right without HOPPING and causing us to pick the wrong channel to watch or record on DVR.

Quick Set up Instructions it said.. Aim at TV and turn on this button first, that button second. pick the number of your TV set. Remote will program itself. HA. HA HA

What number? where is the number? there were instructions to find the number. We found the number.

OURS was not in the pick list. OF COURSE IT WASN'T. never fear, there are instructions if your number is not in the pick list

Follow these 5 steps, we went through those 5 steps over and over and over. me reading him pushing buttons.. we finally got his remote, the one with the big glowing numbers on it programmed, and you would think the second one would be easy. NOT... same thing the second time.
(odd thing is, bob doesn't wear glasses and I am blind without mine, but he likes the big number and I prefer the little) go figure

this is no lie..... It took Two of Us Old Guys one hour and 20 minutes to program the two remotes. I will not put the conversation here because it would burn your ears. think Loud and Long..I knew how long because when I looked at the time we had missed our NOON LUNCH... But both remotes are working and working WELL... I dread the day we buy another TV....

Rocking Chair Memories

Way back in 1995, I left home for work and 4 doors down from our home, this chair sat in a driveway with a sign on it. $100.00. I drove past drooling and thinking, we can't afford that chair. We don't need that chair... When I came home 10 hours later.
There It Sat!  I loved it then, I love it now.
It has been devalued. 2 months after I bought it our dog Max (1986-2002) chewed the back of the rocker off.
It still rocks.
Max also ate a 20.00 bill, found a 20.00 bill, ate a 125.00 check my dad sent for my birthday and chewed the drawer pull off my antique dresser. The story of the birthday check is Here.

He chewed one heel off of five pairs of my dress shoes.

We miss you Max and every time I dust this chair I see the message you left for me.
To see Max, look up at at top of blog in the tabs and click on Max..

Holiday Dream Rewind from 2011

REPOST from 2011......
I love the Chevy Santa Commercials and this one is my favorite.

In the dream, I was terrified, we got out of bed and I followed Bob through the dark house to  the sliding glass door .

Bob was dressed in a  black suit, with black turtleneck, he was standing just outside the door shouting at two Santa's that were floating in the pool on their backs with a lot of beer sitting on their bellies. I was standing in the door with arms extended and a pistol in my hand aiming at the Santa s, shouting move move, I can't see them....I can't see them.....

The Santa's in the dream were just like this guy, you see I have watched this commercial and 2 others over and over, by rewind/fast forward. (This explains the Santa.)

The night of the dream we watched a movie in which the Killer wore a black suit with a black turtleneck. the female cop spent most of the movie with her gun extended, sweeping the halls and down dark alleys. (This explains me with pointing the pistol.)

My question is...
why TWO Santas? why were they in the pool? where did the beer come from? Why was I afraid of two Santa's floating in the pool? Would I shoot a Santa if he floated in my pool? Why was Bob in a Suit when we got out of bed?

A Tale of Two Bees that Were

During chilly days, we have noticed our bees that live in  The Bee Tree, better known as Dwarf Poinciana, get cold and act like they are drunk.
They fly crooked, they run into us, they fall on the deck and sometimes fall  in the pool. After hearing in the news that our world needs our bees for us to continue to eat, Bob and I have been saving them.

We lift  them out of the pool and lay them in a sunny spot and they do survive/revive. One got tangled in Bob's curly hair this week. His hair is like a net for catching things from leaves and sticks to bees.

recreation, I added the bee to photo
I am afraid that this one Bit The Dust because when I yelled Bee IN YOUR HAIR he grabbed it and you can guess what happened..       Sting! Stung! Done!

I decided to Google facts about bees and landed on this site13 Fascinating Facts about Bees....

They get drunk, they ease pain, they have many jobs, scouts, soldiers and even undertakers. This is a MUST read... they are amazing. They are smart..So much to learn So little Time..

About 4 or 5 years ago, Florida has had 13 days of record breaking cold (I secretly hoped it would kill all the bees because they sting Jake and ME.) and added to my misery was bronchitis and sinusitis which required antibiotics.
The sun was shining and my husband said come out and sit against the wall, the sun will be good for you. In my flannel gown (yes we have privacy fence) I sat for 10 minutes and absorbed the rays. It felt so good.
A few minutes after I came in from the sunbath, I was sitting on sofa and felt something crawl on my neck, I brushed the back of my neck with my hand, found nothing, I felt something crawl and brushed again.

Shrieking OW! OW! , I jumped straight up in the air and slung my hand hard, and whatever it was flew off on the carpet, I am screaming Oww it stung me, Ow! It stung me.

Bob jumps up, “what stung you?” “WHERE IS IT?”

Jake jumps off sofa rushes to put his nose on whatever it is. I am screaming No JAKE, No Jake, bob is screaming What is it? Where is it?

Have you guessed yet what it WAS? A BEE…… clue word here is WAS. Is no more.He/she rode in on a flannel gown and rode out in the trash can...

Again with the All About Nothing Post

This most loved little candle holder is only 2 inches tall.  I took the photo Just Because I could..
It has been sitting all alone in my drafts for who knows how long because I Had Nothing to say about it.

I went shopping the day before Valentine Day. Standing in line behind a really cute young man,  I watched as he unloaded his basket...

6 pack of grape soda
small frozen pizza
box of Eggo waffles
bottle of syrup
1 Valentine Card
1 small heart shaped box of Funky Monkey Candy
4 live red roses
and an ITunes card

I surmised he is single, lives alone, was having waffles for breakfast and pizza for lunch and taking his Valentine out for dinner to give her the above presents since he had nothing for dinner.

I LOVE PEOPLE watching. Just Because I can.

Friday morning during a physical, the PA said,
I am going to give you a memory test. Remember these 3 words... Watch, Apple, Penny. Now I am going to distract you. she asked 4 questions and said I will be right back. She came in with a round circle on a tablet and said  "put the numbers on this clock"    I did... she said "put hands on and make it 10 after 6" and I did.... she said what were the three words I told you to remember"
I said Watch, Apple, Penny... she said you have No Alzheimer....
I tell you this because if you need PROOF I am NOT losing it.. You now have it...
She did not do a test for Madness and there is a slight chance for doubt.
