Dinner Bell Lizard Style

See Bobs arm in the above collage? he is dumping what he calls The Dinner Bell. He gets in the pool daily, several times most days and skims the leaves and debris which include numerous gnats and other bugs. He taps it on the deck to make it come out of the net. The tap of the net rings half a dozen lizards running. The sit and wait and when a bug is dumped they rush out and grab it. It is so much fun to watch. they know the sound, like the tadpoles no when I put Romaine Lettuce in the water of the rain barrel.
With Romaine off the shelves due to endangering our lives, I had to find something else.
They love this ReptoMin… It floats on the water and each little piece will have tiny frogs nibbling on it. 2 and 3 at a time.
So yes, we feed the lizards and frogs and tadpoles. Good news is??? Frog food cheaper than lettuce and Bob's lizard food is FREE.
Bob said to tell you, he has seen a lizard an inch long eat a bee, they grab what ever falls out no matter the size, them or the food.

Avon Angel

My DIL in TN sent me a new Angel. She lights up with swirling glitter in her skirt. These two photos were take at the same time, but by moving to one side and changing exposure she looks like different.
She is  11 inches high and beautiful. She is as pretty without the light as with it.
So far I have not felt like putting out any decorations. She sits alone right now.
I am off to TOPS to see how much damage the holiday did, or rather my lack of control on said holiday.
Avon does online sales now and If you want to order an angel, you can do it online HERE...

lettuce

Lettuce discuss this. Is this lettuce or art or tadpole food? We don't have any lettuce jokes yet, so lettuce know if you do...

The Rose and the Big Boy by Madsnapper

Can you find the Big Black Dog? Poor Big Boy, forced to wait for his "place n the sun" by a madly snapping Mama that received a single rose as a gift from a friend at TOPS..

The Story of the Rose started when, Karen handed me a single rose as we left TOPS on Wed. I walked in the door and put in in my priceless vase avocado oil bottle, sat it on the counter and said to Bob, look how pretty this looks in the oil bottle. He answered, it's beautiful and perfect in the bottle. ITS TRUE, he said that. Really.

Suddenly without thinking, I GRABBED THE CAMERA!  Nope! to bright looking into the kitchen, to dark looking out of the kitchen.

It NEEDS Sunlight, my brain says... nope, to much sunshine and dirty red rug...

I tried one or two more by holding the rose in the sun... well, maybe MORE than one or two more..
Below is the one I liked the best, and besides that, Big Boy was waiting for his sunny blanket and I was in his way.   Bloopers to be continued Sunday.

Walk A Mile- Maple Tree

I heard the maple syrup company maple their brand off the market soon..
You maple my hair over these puns...

This is the only little Maple tree in the neighborhood, and it is right next door to us and we can see it from our back yard...  The tree on the right over the roof is our oak in our front yard. The leaves fall off this tree right after Thanksgiving. The rest of the trees are green year round

Blades of Grass

Shadows of leaves and blades of grass found on my morning walk.

Blades of Grass and Pure White Stones
arr. Keith Christopher - Hal Leonard Corporation

"Blades of grass and pure white stone shelter those who've come and gone.
Just below the em'rald sod are boys who've reached the arms of God.
Buried here with dignity, endless rows for all to see.
Freedom's seeds in sorrow sown, 'neath blades of grass and pure white stones."

Walk A Mile AHA moment..

In a prior post last week, someone mentioned how funny it was to see Sanitary Sewer written on the manhole lid. Yesterday on my walk, as I focused on the shadow play on this manhole lid, I saw it simply said Sewer. As I walked I saw some said Sanitary Sewer others said Sewer, a few had no words at all. It dawned on me that the sewer might mean run off water and the sanitary would be the pipes running from the houses carrying the sewer.

As soon as I got home I researched Google and this is exactly what it means, Each lid tells the workers what that pipe does and where it goes. AHA moment.

Fisherman Cook

We woke to 58 cool, non humid degrees... Bob pulled out his Florida Winter Shirt. A gift from my Son David many years ago, about 33 years I think. Bob hates sleeves and collars, I cut them off and this is his cooking, knockabout, walking BB shirt. The red sweat pants come out when the temps are below 70.... brrrrr the high was 72  brrrrr 😎😎
P.S. if you are wondering what he is doing in the first shot... Waiting On The Toast to POP UP

Big Boys job is to wait patiently for Daddy to dish up 2 eggs, 2 sausage and 2 toast with Jelly.

Walk A Mile Duck Crossing

To bad there is a need for a sign to warn people to watch out for the neighborhood ducks. You would think everyone would KNOW....

In 1990, I got my Real Estate license and like others before me had no clue how to list or sell a home. I got my start because a friend in our Sunday School class, said to me, My mother has had her house listed for over a year. It is small and in a really bad neighborhood. Do you think you can help her?

I listed the house and we all started to pray, enlisted the senior women's SS class that the owner attended .
The house was in an area filled with hookers and homeless wanderers... It SOLD in 30 days. It sold to a HOOKER... I advised the lady to keep most of her money and buy a condo and showed her the perfect one.  I became known at our RE office as The Condo Queen because that sale caused a flood of women in her SS class to decide to list with me and buy a condo...

My first two years of sales were thanks to the sale of that one home. The house below was one of my listing from the Church. Our Pastor called me and said I hear from the Seniors here you are the person to list my house.   It sold to a nurse and is still as pretty as it was then.

Nature Friday

In search of photos for Nature Friday with LLB in our Backyard, I found WEED SHADOWS on our fence, enhanced by the sunbeams.

I looked up the definition of Nature and I think these photos fit. Fencing from Trees, Leaves from Weeds, Sunbeams from the Sun and the Shadows they cast.

"Nature, the phenomena of the physical world collectively, including plants, animals, the landscape, and other features and products of the earth, as opposed to humans or human creations."

I close with a nature PUN........   Mountains aren't just funny, they are Hill Areas!

Froglets

I found a cheaper way to feed the tabpoles. I bought a head of red leaf lettuce, wilted the whole thing and serve a few pieces each day. They use it for food and to sit on to rest.. Look at circled teeny frog above right corner.

Enlarge and see the tiny legs as he rest on the lettuce below

Two more tiny tree frogs, they are in the bottom of the measure cup... So tiny and perfect. I could put both of these side by side on the palm of my hand and still have room for more. It has occurred to me these guys are invasive and not natural to Florida, but what can I do??? it's to late now.
